God is Trustworthy and Reliable

Life can change in an instant. Circumstances come our way, happen to us that can have a dynamic affect upon where our lives are going. Think of a few years ago when COVID hit our countries. Dynamic change. Think of now, wars on the borders of many of our countries where we live, financial instability in the countries we live in, domestic abuse is going rife, sexual exploitation of women, minors……., people who cause fights, killings out of anger, unforgiveness…… Sometimes watching the news can feel like asking the question – is there anything good left in the world?

Then my mind, heart and spirit go to thoughts of God.

So stable. So good. So reliable. So dependable.

Psalm 90 describes God so well like this.

Lord, you have been our dwelling-place
    in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God

Psalm 90:1-2 NRSV

That’s our God. The everlasting unchanging reliable God, from generation to generation. Totally loving us and only good comes from our relationship with Him. When the world is so unstable, the Lord is truly the only stable thing in our lives.

Oh, how wonderful that we know this.

How wonderful that Our God is this for us!

Do we tell this to people that we meet? People who feel afraid, who are struggling, that they need to know God who will help them. He will come to their aid.

In 1st Corinthians it states by the apostle Paul:

God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:9 NRSV

God is reliable, trustworthy, stable, dependable!

This makes me feel, should make us all feel, safe. At peace. Knowing that Our God has everything in the palm of His hand. That he calls us into relationship with Him. That He has our back.

I have a plaque in my family room that I read all the time. It says,

“God’s got this!” Whatever this is.

Do you truly know this? Know Him?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Have there been moments in your life where things changed in an instant? What did you do?

Were you able to turn to God who is stable and reliable? Why or Why not?

Think of a time where you have needed to trust in God because life was rocky. How did you feel when you trusted in God?

What could you do to turn to God when your life circumstances change?

Thank you Rosemary! I really needed reading this as I felt my faith decreasing with what is going on in this world. It’s such a coincidence that I talked with God today about how I’m feeling so distraught over things and that I need to place everything in His hands and then you send this to further increase my faith and trust in God. Thank you .

I have recently had a big struggle at work, I was being bullied – I wanted to leave my job but it felt impossible to me. Then 2 weeks ago I was made redundant so I had the decision made for me. I had applied for a new job just a week before this as I knew I had to look for something. Only one week after the redundancy I was offered a new job with people who are much more respectful and who will value me as an employee. I am so grateful to God for making this happen as I know I could not do this on my own. With God all things are possible.
