God’s Grace Follows Us

It started out as a normal day in which God’s grace abounded.

Let me explain.

Waking up with the alarm going off while my body craved more sleep, it flashed through my mind to push the snooze button but knew as my mind fully awoke, I would not have time.

After worshiping God with prayer and hearing the Word of God at Church we had to drive to the airport to catch a plane for meetings interstate and overseas. The flight was a good flight. My knees were holding up under the strain of the travel and the little leg space that I was dreading turned into quite a bit of room.

The walk with luggage to the train to get to another airport was assisted unexpectedly by a guard at the station who helped us by carrying some of the luggage down the escalators and waiving the train ticket transfer. Then when we got off the train at the next station (to stay overnight before flying out the next morning to our next meeting) and lo and behold 50 metres in front of us was the hotel. As my legs started to feel the pain of all of the walking, our room happened to be just in front of the lift doors.

“Praise God!”, I acknowledged.

God’s Grace, His unexpected favor, undeserved gifts of love from on high, were so present in those first two days. I expected to be lying in a heap of pain trying to get some respite from the arthritis and lack of cartilage in my knees, but God, in his graciousness, sent me his loving kindness, protection and help to assist me in my daily chores.

Oh, how good is our God! How ever gracious towards us – we who do not deserve any good thing. Not worthy of any love, forgiveness, salvation, care from our God and yet He continues to bless us with His grace!

Psalm 8 comes to mind,

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
    the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?

Psalm 8:3-4 NRSV

And I acknowledge truly the steadfast love that abounds from Him as stated in Exodus:

The Lord passed before him, and proclaimed,

“The Lord, the Lord,
a God merciful and gracious,
slow to anger,
and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness…

Exodus 34:6 NRSV

I recognized His Grace and blessings covered me that day.

When and where do you recognize and thank His Grace, ever abounding, for you today ?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Hello Rosemary. I just can’t tell you how often you are completely ‘in sync’ with me. Just this morning I spent a little extra time thanking God for his many graces and blessing during my life. I feel so well cared for in so many large and small ways. As I made my bed, I remembered that the pillow slip I had put in the washing machine last evening, had my diamond engagement ring in it. I had put it there as a safety precaution when I had to go out and there were people working in the house. As I rushed to the laundry, my husband asked if I had lost something? He had found the ring on the floor near the washing machine. That made me praise and thank the Lord even more. The ring is quite old having been handed down to me by my deceased Mother-in-law in 1976. She had it for at least 40 years before that. I love Psalm 8 and know some of it by heart and say it often but I change the words to “What am I? that You should care for me”? Thank you Rosemary.
