God is With You!

The rain was relentless, thundering down in sheets. So difficult to see the road so crawling slowly in a 100km/ hour zone. You open your eyes deliberately wide every now and again because the rain and the streetlights make everything seem blurred. It drains you of energy when after an hour you’re still trying to get to your destination and the rain has not stopped.

Looking ahead is not possible in this weather.

As I pray under my breath for God’s guidance and protection as the lightening starts, it reminds me of my life sometimes… Can’t see ahead.  I really need the Lord’s guidance and protection. The storms in my life seem to be unrelentless and all consuming.

Then the Holy Spirit sends me a word.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.’

Deuteronomy 31:8 NRSV

I love this scripture for it tells us not that the Lord sent help, sent an angel to guard and guide (and He does) but that the Lord Himself goes before us, into our future and is with us.

So, I breathe a huge sigh of relief as more lightning flashes across the sky. My knuckles unclench a little on the steering wheel for the Lord Himself is with me – in this physical storm and all the storms that come what may in my life.

The Lord is with me!

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Thank you Rosemary, your writings are always so poignant and relatable. I recently had to be deposed for a lawsuit. I was so nervous and prayed scriptures and asked God to please be with me and for the Holy Spirit to give me the words to say. My lawyer after the fact said I seemed poised and calm (I felt anything but) and when I later read over
The transcript I couldn’t believe some of my statements which sounded so confident! God truly went before me and gave me strength and courage!
    To God be the glory!
