Not Feeling It?… God is Still Good!
Someone the other day said to me, “I don’t see God in my life. I ask for certain things and nothing happens.” These words have been plaguing me ever since. Going over and over in my mind like a stuck recording.
This feeling of nothing, this thinking of this void of God in their life was contrary to how I lived. What I believed. What scripture tells us. What God has told us.
God has stated time and time again,
“I am with you.”
Isaiah 41:10 NRSV
God has shared us His Son, Jesus, and He told us the same thing.
I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20 NRSV
So, I started pulling apart the words used – “I don’t feel……”
That’s where the problem lies. Not with God. But with how we sometimes feel. Sometimes because of our circumstances, our feelings, we can’t see God in our life. Especially when there might be a big question we have been asking God and there appears to be silence from Him with the answer.
So, I shared with the person some areas in their life that they had shared with me over a few weeks. I acknowledged to them that they might not “feel” God in their life, but the truth is He is interested in them and wants to be involved. Just look at the good things that have been happening in their life. I started listing things.
These good things have come from God. He is involved in all of it.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above.”
James 1:17 NIV
I suggested writing out, every day, good things that have occurred – a grateful journal, and ask the Holy Spirit to open their spiritual eyes to see God working in their life.
Put aside the answer that you are waiting on and trust that God, in His timing and with His loving kindness, will show you His answer. Maybe you’re not ready to receive God’s response yet. His love and mercy are looking after you and He probably, no most certainly, desires you to increase your Faith in Him. To get to know Him better. To trust in Him and His plans for you. For He only means good towards us.
Change your perspective. To see with different eyes God present.
Where do you need to acknowledge that you are blind to God and His works? That your agenda outshines, outweighs God’s.
May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

I feel he is not with me when I have been asking him for my son for many years now , but I know that he is with me because he has blessed me in many things, but I guess what I ask him about my son is just not the right time for him
