Do I Trust In God For Everything?
Bruce dropped me off at the entrance of the shopping centre while he went looking for a parking spot. That way it is easier on my knees if he needs to park a fair distant away. While I was waiting for him in the foyer, I was watching all the people going up and down the escalators.
You heard the little boy before you saw him. He was about two years old. Full of energy and a few steps in front of his mother who was laden with bags. As he approached the sliding doors to the outside car park his Mum yelled out instructions.
“Stop! Wait for me, there might be cars.”
The little boy put on his brakes and immediately stopped in his tracks. He looked behind at his Mum and asked, “Where’s Grandma?”
She kept walking while answering him, “She’s already gone ahead to the car.”
He still did not move as his Mum approached the sliding doors which opened before her. As she walked through, he was still hesitant. Looking up at his Mum before he could even verbalise another word Mum said again. “Remember she went ahead of us to go sit in the car. “
Being reassured he started walking again following his Mum. His chatter started up again and his walk had that bounce and spring in it that little children have.
When children are young their Dads and especially their Mums are their whole world. They look to them for guidance, direction, comfort, acknowledgement, advice, encouragement, love, forgiveness … everything.
While I was enjoying the interaction between a mother and her child, I heard the Holy Spirit ask me – do I have that same relationship with God my Father?
Do I look to Him for everything? Do I trust in His words completely?
Do I walk in confidence with a big spring in my step because God walks with me? Knowing that He cares about me, is looking out for me in case of danger, cautioning me if needed.
Do I even see God doing those things in my life? Do I know that God looks after me and do I trust in His plan for my life?
Jesus asks us to be like a little child.
They can teach us lots no matter our age or how wise we are.
“Be like a little child!”
May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Take a quick assessment of yourself. Do you trust in God completely? Do you look to Him for everything?
If not, why not? What do you need to do to take that step towards trusting in God?
What is the Holy Spirit saying to you in regards to your relationship with Him?

1. Yes! But more so now than when I was younger.
2. Wish that there had been mentors like you and Bruce, when we first started out on our marital adventure.
3. Walk closer with me
