Who Do You Follow?
My husband Bruce travels a lot with his Ministry and often gets upgraded to a better seat. Because of these upgrades using points, he usually is given a pair of pyjamas to wear on the long flights. They are normally of a plain colour with the emblem of the aircraft carrier on them. They are made of bamboo and so warm and comfortable that they are usually my winter PJ’s. One year he received so many I gave a lot away to family members. My daughter, Melissa, wore hers a few weeks ago and when she had changed into them her youngest daughter Willow, who is 7, stated. “Why are…
God Will Carry You
In goes first the skim milk, then the berries, protein powder, bananas all in a mixer and that’s my morning milkshake. If I adjust the ingredients and add in flour, an egg and less skim milk I have the mix ready to bake into a healthy loaf. I have been wanting to eat a bit healthier lately especially because many of my body parts are highly inflamed. I’ve been researching foods that cause more inflammation and those that are anti- inflammatory. The more I can help my body coping with my condition the better I will be. But it does not stop there. I need to look after my mental…
Do Not Worry for the Future
Many people plan ahead. Not just for today, or for the month but for their future lives. This, in a way, is a good thing in knowing what you want to do and what you want to achieve in life, what career path you may want to take, so therefore what study you may need to do etc to achieve that dream. As Christians we are asked to put God first. We put God into all aspects of our lives, which includes our work, our home, everything about us. God does not mind us having future plans but because we don’t know the future, He desires us to put our…
Around the Dining Table
I had four of my grandchildren sitting around the kitchen dining table eating their afternoon tea after school. I had been on “pick up from school duty.” They had previously in the car been singing an alphabet song over and over trying to get the words right. After about the tenth time they were all happy with what they had worked out was the final product. I interrupted their chatter and singing by asking them could they sing it in an operatic voice, which they very happily did. At the top of their lungs mind you. I then asked them to sing it angrily, which they did. Then with emotion…
When I am Weak, He is Strong
Looking at the clock and seeing the time, my body and mind sighed in unison. Can’t sleep. Tossing and turning. So tired but the body and mind won’t relax enough. Frustrated I get out of bed and make myself a warm milk, put on some quiet calm music, man myself with a warm wheat bag to put on the offending aching muscles and try again. Lately as my husband is rising to start the day, I’m crawling back into bed to get just a few hours. So frustrating! Is it insomnia or just the aching muscles keeping me awake? I’m not anxious. Over the years I hopefully have learnt to…
