9 December 2020

There we were three of my sisters, my Mum and Dad chatting over afternoon tea. I had not seen them for a year due to covid restrictions and state border closures. Yesterday I had caught up with my twin sister and my brother too! Oh, it felt good!

We were sharing about our lives, our families, the highs and the lows.

Honesty was on the table and everyone was listening to the struggles and the joys of life.

My youngest sister was sharing about a situation from a few weeks back where she came out with, “I was so frustrated that I walked away from the situation and sent some urgent prayers to God.”

She was openly sharing (actually all of us were sharing openly) with our parents and each other about faith and life. We shared about our children and grandchildren who needed love and guidance and we all desperately wanted the best for them. We all desperately want the best road for each to travel on.

God was so gracious to put me in that family. I want to honour my parents and both grandparents on both sides for the faith they have lived and passed on. The discussions even now around church and God and a relationship with Christ inspire me. Encourage me to keep going. This is the way to live.

Not a few hours later at Church the first reading and the Gospel reading blew me away.

They were along the same lines of Jesus being ‘the way, the truth and the life.’

The first reading from Isaiah 40 depicts God as sending someone for the Israelites – Jesus.

Prepare the way of the lord!

A voice of one calling:
“In the wilderness prepare
    the way for the Lord;
make straight in the desert
    a highway for our God.

Isaiah 40:3 NIV

And

11 He tends his flock like a shepherd:
    He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
    he gently leads those that have young.

Isaiah 40:11 NIV

I love that it states that He holds them close to His heart and gently leads those that have young.

He will show them the way and carry the very young Himself to guide, love and direct His good paths for them.

But He will lead us who have young ones to lead!

Oh, what comfort! It’s as if Jesus had been in our discussion! Actually, He was!

You should have seen the smile on my face. The peace in my heart.

Ahh what a season of preparation for Christmas.

With Jesus, everything is all right.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups. If you would like more information please click HERE.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Are you allowing Jesus to be ‘the way, the truth and the life’ in your life?

Are you allowing God to guide you?

Are you handing over all your situations to Him so that He can lead you?
