I’m chasing my tail again or juggling too many balls. It happens every couple of months. I either take on too much or I no longer can cope with a huge workload. It overwhelms me a bit. If I’m not careful it affects my inner peace.

I feel that God is telling me something through these experiences. It’s like He’s waving a red flag so I will notice what is occurring. ‘Don’t take on so much. Say no. Prioritize what you take on and do.’

This feeling that I need to take some time out, often gnaws at me.  The thoughts of ‘Go away and spend some time with God. Just Him and You’ come into my mind.

As I’m getting older, I acknowledge I need this time away more with God.

Does this sit well with anyone?

Are you feeling the same?

Jesus often went and spent time away with His Father.

After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray……

Matt 14:23 NLT

Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

Luke 11:1 NLT

I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:5 NRSV

Be still and know that I am God.

Psalm 46:10 NRSV

Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matt 6:33 ESV

I could go on and on with lines of scripture, either where Jesus spends time with His Father or shares with his disciples to seek God. Follow after Him. Spend the time.

So now I’m trying to put into my diary, my schedule, extra time with God.

Different to my prayer time of petitions, or my bible study time. More like a conversation time, where it’s two way. Sometimes I’m talking, sometimes I’m listening. More often than not of just ‘being’ together. Breathing in His Spirit. Sitting in solitude. Holding his hand. Leaning more into Him.

How do I describe this? It’s often different every time depending on what’s happening in my Life or how I’m feeling.

It’s a relationship of Love, Of Grace and Mercy that flows from the Father, with Jesus and by the Holy Spirit. I often imagine myself breathing in His Spirit – more and more – taking deep gulps – breathes – to absorb as much as possible.

This picture of myself as an empty vessel, being poured into by The Spirit.

I go away feeling FULL. Peaceful. More Loving, generous, and resolved to continue to make more TIME WITH GOD.

My suggestion – go do the same for yourself. You will be more refreshed than you have ever been. More focused and equipped to do the jobs/work you have on your plate.

There will be more PEACE. More JOY. More CONTENTMENT than you’ve ever had.

Try it. After this experience, you will make sure you make TIME in your busy lives just for HIM.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

I so enjoy reading your blog and your words of hope and faith – you truly brighten my day. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your thoughts. I try hard to listen and read daily and I do get so much from that but I don’t always feel like I’m connecting to the Holy Spirit to hear God. Do you have a thought or two to help. Many thanks and blessings!

Dear Patricia, you ask how to connect more with the Holy Spirit? Ask him. Start the day asking him to show himself more to you- start to tune in more inside.
I often picture myself with my eyes closed as Rosemary me inside reaching out to the spirit of God- this hovering of life( like described in genesis.)and allowing him to meet me where I am at- our 2 spirits becoming one. So I actually imagine this joining and then literally take deep breaths to breathe him into me. The true me.
It may appear weird but in the privacy of my own home or space it helps me- to picture this.
But definitely asking the Holy Spirit to come and reveal more of himself is a key. Hope that helps a bit.
      Much love Rosemary

This was just what I need this morning after a busy couple of days collecting numbers to attend a lunch. These numbers kept on changing as the time to ring the venue gets closer. When I did finally speak with them, the manager was not happy as the numbers were greater than usual. I took some time off, made a coffee, then read your email which was exactly what I need at this moment.
Thanks Rosemary for reminding me of something which I knew, but was not putting into action! God’s word is not JUST to be read, but to enrich our lives by living them! Many thanks and May God Bless you, Suzanne

    Dear Rosemary,
Thank you so much for that beautiful message and reminder to spend quiet time with God.
I live in a very stressful household, my son has schizophrenia and my daughter is bipolar. It is very difficult for me to find those quiet times. At the moment it is as if God is far away. But I know he is helping me to cope.
    God bless you.
    Moya.
