“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” – Søren Kierkegaard

What a true quote!

When we look back on our life with the light of Christ shining on and in it, we often see the hand of God. We understand more about our humanity. How weak we truly are in some circumstances while in others so strong that we know Christ was carrying us.

We understand how immature we were and some of us needed to “grow up” as the saying goes but in a not so funny way, we needed to go through some things to mature.

Our focus comes off ourselves, our careers and more onto what can we pass on and help others with.

While these thoughts were going around in my mind, I heard this song on the radio in the car.

Next to Me  – Song by Jordan Feliz

I’ve been empty

When I’m low, you fill the cup, yeah

But my ego fights back telling me that

I’m ready to grab the wheel and take control

But I’ll crash if I don’t let myself let go

You put the “X” on my faded map

Draw me a line back to where you’re at

Patient when I try to move too fast

I get this feeling

I get this feeling

I get this feeling in my spirit when I’m low

I hear it calling like a compass to my soul

Saying, child, come on back now

You’ve been gone too long

Let me lead you back where you belong

Right next to me.

Do you hear that calling in your soul at times? God calling you back to him? Maybe you have not wandered far but He wants us right beside him, next to him.

He tells us by his name He is with us, and He wants the relationship to be the same in reverse. Us with him.

This spurs on in my mind the story of Jesus calling the little children to come. He admonished his disciples who were only seeing how humanly tired he was, when they pushed the children and their parents away.

He wants us to come to him

Then little children were being brought to him in order that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples spoke sternly to those who brought them; but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”

Matthew 19:13-14

Jesus our friend, our Saviour, our God.

Come unto me.

It is He who lifts us up. It is He who guides us. It is He who loves us completely,

So, I’ve decided I’m not waiting till the end of my life to see and acknowledge Jesus carrying me. I’m claiming it now.

Listen to the voice in your soul!

Come back to him, sit on his lap, get his advice.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Lately with covid I had been away from going to mass and I missed receiving him in Communion. I started back last Sunday. I need God’s Strength, his love and guidance as I am struggling with my husbands diagnosis of Alzheimers recently. It felt so good to be back. I missed the fellowship too.

I’ve been feeling that call since the beginning of the year. I’ve always gone to church, but now mass, although online, is much more meaningful. I watch Bruce’s Daily Devotionals and read the Bible with Fr. Mike Schmitz Bible in a year. We do this and the rosary together every day. I’m not comfortable going to church yet because my husband is compromised due to a lung disease and cannot go. The doctors say he will die if he gets any other respiratory illnesses.. About 2 miles of my morning walk everyday include many prayers. As a convert many years ago, I was not aware of so much in the Catholic faith. I have received so much comfort from yours and other sites as I (we) face an uncertain future with my husband’s illness.
