Be Bold this Christmas

The weariness hopefully has not set in. It’s just going to take longer to recover from the jetlag, right? The glazed over feeling, the brain fog should lift soon. My body is still functioning – thank goodness. Bruce and I have been away for a month and are now home. But travelling across the International Date Line to another country definitely upsets your system.

No matter how we are feeling, the sleep we are getting or not getting, whatever the journey we are on, I have learnt something very important lately. That God accompanies with us on our journey of life. Even if we do not recognize Him, acknowledge Him. He is there.

I have learnt there is a thirst in everyone that I meet, a thirst for love, to be loved and to love. It is intrinsic within each person.

As a Christian I know that God is love.

Dear friends, let us love one another for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:7-9

We actually are all on a journey to find love and to find what will satisfy us.

Again, God totally satisfies us too.

The Lord will guide you always,

He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land

And will strengthen your frame.

You will be like a well-watered garden.

Isaiah 58:11

So, we who desire love and our neighbour who desires love – which then is everyone – will find this Love that will satisfy all our needs when we seek and find God.

“God helps me to be a better person” someone stated.

“God has given me a meaning to my life,” was another response to the question – What has God done for you?

I love the line in Isaiah where I’m satisfied even in a 40 degree Celsius or 104-degree Fahrenheit sun-scorched land! But more than just surviving in the heat we are like a fresh, vibrant, harvest filled, watered garden. Do you get the picture?

Life with Jesus is FULL, vibrant, satisfying, and fruitful.

So do we share this with all we meet? – by our actions if we can’t say it with words. Do we love, especially those living in hard times, living devoid of this Love?

Maybe as this Christmas season is now upon us, who can we love?  Who can we show love to that desperately needs to know Jesus Our Saviour. Be bold, go love them and then you are truly showing the world, showing your neighbour that you are a Christ follower.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
