So Many Questions

Have you noticed that young children have so many questions? Here are a few from some of my grandchildren.

“Did Jesus visit Australia when he lived on the earth?”

“Mum, in the 80’s were dinosaurs real?”

“Why can’t we breathe under water?”

“Is Pa in another world?”

“I can go to school tomorrow, can’t I ?, cause my belly does not hurt, I’m not sick anymore and my little bit of a runny nose is ok cause I can blow it at school. (From Someone who loves school)

Some of these questions are easy to answer. Others are more difficult to articulate.

Then I realised, I too, always have so many questions about life, about what happened, about what may happen?

Bruce goes to a doctor’s appointment and I question him. What happened? What was the treatment? How long will it take for you to get better?

My daughter has a job interview and again I ask so many questions. I search Mr Google so often in  questions like: how to clean a stain off furniture? How to cook a cake in the microwave? How to …….?

We live in a question and answering world. We humans have so many questions and want THE answers. Only problem is often we cannot find the answers to our questions,  at least not straight away  but  even maybe never.

In our spirituality, our walk in faith, our questions about faith, God, religion…..we desire answers. But the truth is, we do not understand or cannot explain, or have the answers to many of our questions.

How can three persons be in the One God – in the Trinity?

How could Jesus be truly human and truly divine at the same time?

How come not everyone believes in God?

Is there life after death? Is there truly eternal life for all if we choose?

For all of us we need to walk with this Blind Faith. Walk in the Truth that we do know. Live our lives trusting that a God who loved us and sent his Son, Jesus, to the earth to live here for a time (this is true – it has been recorded in history accounts) and then to die for us so we could live with Him forever is TRUE.

Jesus states to his disciples before he left this earth…

Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.

John 20:29b NRSV

We still live with questions that in our lifetime may never be answered, but we live knowing that God has us on His heart. He has our best interests at heart. Rewards and blessings are available to us all from this “unseen” God.

I cannot explain though (but I’m trying) that this “unseen” God is SO REAL to me. I see Him not with these human eyes but with “spiritual” eyes and not everything can be explained. There are still unanswered questions that one day will be revealed to me, but I am content in walking with this gift of believing.

Are you? Or do you have too many questions that unbelief creeps in?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
