Mary Always Points to Jesus

The phone rang. It was my Mum! Just her ringing me warmed my heart. She lives four and a half days drive away in another state and I don’t see her as often as I would like. I even shared with one of my daughter’s how special it was that Mum rang me. She asked me about the newborn granddaughter and her Mum, to see how they were going. She is such a caring mother of six, grandmother of twenty-three and great-grandmother of thirty.

As I started the day, I looked at the Christian Calendar. The Assumption of Our Lady. My thoughts turned to Mary, the Mother of God. Our Mother too. Mother of billions….trillions… How special it would be, how it would warm my heart, if she came and visited. (And she has visited many on the earth over the years.)

She was told by God via the Angel Gabriel that she was full of grace and chosen by God to be the Mother of His One and only Son, Jesus. She alone was made worthy from birth to “house,” “to grow” Jesus within her womb. She alone was made without sin so that The Lord had a fit and holy place to dwell for 9 months as He was being formed into being fully human and fully God. Such a miracle, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Mary was blessed, way blessed beyond any other woman, as the prayer goes.

The fruit of her womb Jesus was Blessed.

Everything that Mary did was blessed.

When her life on earth was designated by God to cease, she did not die. There was no corruption within her and so was assumed into heaven Body and soul. We pray to her to honour her as the mother of God and also ask for her intercession. We pray to her to give our prayers, our needs to her Son Jesus.

Just like she did at the Wedding Feast of Cana. She pointed out to Jesus the problem, then stepped back to see what HE would do.

Whenever Mary has appeared on the earth since her Assumption, her messages always state – to pray, repent, turn from sin, turn back to Jesus. Always pointing to her Son.

If you ever read in scripture what Mary said or did, she never made big of herself. She always thought about, meditated upon, in her heart what had occurred or what her Son had said.

Always the servant (maidservant as she stated) pointing to her son Jesus.

“Be it done unto your will” was her response.

What is your response?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

How can I respond like Mary whenever God asks something of me?
Perhaps by responding as Mary did. “ Thy will be done unto me.”
Do I find it difficult to say to God “Be it done unto your will”
Actually more difficult today than when I was younger. Why? Because when I was younger I was inclined to be impetuous, to jump in boots and all. Now I tend to weigh things up more, to be more cautious.
I am a little afraid of not being able to do what might be asked of me, even though I know that the good Lord will provide the strength needed to do what he might. Ask of me.
Good question. It required some soul searching..
I wish that I was more like Our Lady. I owe her so much.

At first I found it hard but as the years have gone by I find my self say your will be done , even though I have been asking for years for god to bless my younger son with a wife and family and to this day I’m still waiting more patiently than before I know and believe that he will bless my son in his timing.
