Growing Excitement for Christmas

It’s definitely feeling a lot like Christmas!

The work Christmas parties, the over-eating of the rich food, the end of year school Christmas concerts, the choir rehearsals for the coming weeks, the checking of the lists upon lists……

Then the exhaustion the next day and the aching feet and knees.

As I sit and contemplate what to organize for dinner, after a long day of festivities. (Yes, we can still eat more!) My thoughts go to Our Lord and what is happening in the heavenly realm. The angels would be getting prepared for the Saviour’s birth, excitement plus for the Glory of Himself soon to come to the Earth. Would they be practicing the songs they would sing in perfect harmony, ready to exalt even more the Newborn King?

Actually, they don’t need preparation for the coming event. They are fully on, fully glorifying God always!

It is US who needs to prepare our hearts, minds and souls for this glorious day and season.

Christmas carols always get me excited. I feel a great anticipation which grows as the day approaches.

My Lord and Saviour soon to be born for us!

It is worth all of the cooking and decorating if it points to Jesus coming soon.

It is worth the sore feet, if it brings Glory to God and plants a seed in people’s hearts.

May my life be more and more about Him, who is worthy of my praise, of all praise.

Do you stop and reflect upon your life, where your focus is? What are you spending a lot of time on? Is it what Jesus asks of you? Are you seeking more of Him and His Kingdom or more of you and yours?

Only you can ask and answer those questions.

May I encourage you to start now and be excited for His impending birth. May this excitement grow (like it does in little children who ask, “is it Christmas yet?”) and culminate in an explosion of JOY on December the 25th.

What do you do to prepare for His birth? Why not share with us all that you do?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love
