All Different but Oh So Loved!

The other day one of my granddaughter’s was studying for some exams. She had a week off school and only had to go to school on the day to sit the exam.

Her mother was sharing with us how this particular child would study. She would have background music in her room, singing at the top of her lungs and writing all this information on some white boards. The information being the areas, ideas and knowledge she needed to retain for that particular exam.

Maybe not the way you would do it but the way that she studies and gets results.

Another granddaughter, the previous week, had gone to her school disco held on a Friday night. The DJ played a Justin Bieber song for the last song of the night and this eight-year-old was excited because she knew all the words to the song and it was one of her favorites. She was most bemused when all, or most, of her classmates had never heard of the song before. She queried her mother “Is it reasonable that they did not know the song?” (Her words used exactly!)

Well yes, it was.

Now Willow, this eight-year-old, is the youngest of four and has three older sisters who listen to different genres of music. She gets influenced often by what they are listening to. The music is wholesome and is filtered by their parents before they listen to different singers or groups.

But because of her older sisters Willow is listening often to more mature or different types of music that normal eight-year-olds are not listening to.

Again, maybe not what you would listen to, but what this younger generation is listening to.

We are all so uniquely made. All formed, developed also from environmental influences, from familial influences. All in many ways turning out differently.

We need to celebrate these differences and the uniqueness of Who we are.

For it was you who formed my inward parts;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
    Wonderful are your works;
that I know very well.

Psalm 139:13-14 NRSV

All so different, but oh so loved by the Creator who formed us.

Each and every one of us is unique. An intentional Masterpiece created by God.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
