Knowing Ourself
I had flown over 2 flights for 12 hours and when I hobbled off the plane because my body was all stiff, as soon as I could, I was crawling into bed.
I recognize in myself now that I need a “down day” if I have travelled a bit the day before.
I know myself.
But more than knowing my physical body over the years, because of my relationship with Jesus, I have come to know my heart and recognize my flaws.
It states in the book of Psalms:
Search me, God, and know my heart;
Psalm 139:23-24 NIV
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Jesus wants the best for me and for me to be the best person I can be. I truly understand myself if I look to my creator who made me.
In Ephesians it states:
For we are Gods handiwork…. Designed ahead of time to do good works in and with Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:10
Do I know these parts of myself? Or am I surprised sometimes what comes out of my mouth in how I react to things?
The Lord desires that we work on ourselves then in accepting who we are call upon the grace of God to help us improve, give Him ourselves to purify more, to become “better” along the journey of life.
When we truly know ourselves, we are less judgmental towards others for we all fall short of the glory of God.
Do you know yourself?
May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
How well do you know yourself?
Is there something that you have discovered about you recently?

At 79 almost 80 know I can do nothing good on my own…I am totally dependent upon Him and so very thankful I trust in him completely.
