He is Our Hope!

I’ve been tired before but not tired like this for a long time. You know when your brain is not working well. You keep forgetting things, forgetting appointments not because of old age but because your brain is a little bit fried and does not know what day it is. That is jetlag.

I was sitting in a prayer service the other day and was nodding off badly quite a few times. I was trying to stay awake but every few seconds felt my eyes close and my head start falling to my chest.

It was time to rest. That deep rest that my mind, body and spirit really needed.

So I planned (just a little) the next few days of simple nourishing quick meals for Bruce and myself.

I organized (just a little) the necessary things I needed to do and put everything else aside for later.

I put on some quiet nourishing music and let myself soak it all in and before I knew it, late in the afternoon, I was soundly asleep. I stirred a few times over the next few hours wondering where I was but quickly went back to sleep.

Over the last few weeks, I have heard many stories of God’s grace being given to people and grateful hearts shared their innermost dreams. While at other times prayers of desperate need were shared with me and hugs of consolation and words of hope were spoken over these people’s lives.

I have recognized more and more we ALL need Jesus.

He is the hope for All of humankind, in every situation.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…

1 Peter 1:3 NRSV

And as stated in Romans:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13 NRSV

This is so true. That Our God is the God of All Hope and it is He alone who fills us with joy and peace.

To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Colossians 1:27 NRSV

The truth of Colossians 1:27 is so true but sadly many of his people don’t know this – that Christ Himself, is in you. He is our only hope for glory.

Now who does not want a glorious life? It can only happen through and with God.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
