He Cares About Your Day

The dry sore throat started around the same time as the irritating slow nasal drip. I was coming down with a cold. I moaned internally. This was not a time to get a cold. My calendar was full of appointments, ones where I needed a clear mind and extra strength to grapple with them. I prayed that the cold would not progress any further and that my immune system would win the battle.

Do you ever pray prayers like that? Prayers that ask God into your day, into your situation.

God is so interested in you, in me, in our lives that he loves it when we include Him. He loves it when we talk to Him about simple everyday things.

In the book of 1 Peter, it says:

“Cast all your anxiety on him for he cares for you.”

1 Peter 5:7 NRSV

So, if you are thinking about stuff, share it with him. You may not necessarily be feeling anxious about what you are thinking or how you are feeling (physically, mentally, spiritually) but if it comes up into your life then God is interested.

Jesus shared so often with His disciples that He knows the number of hairs on our head, that we are more important than the sparrows God cares for…..

He did this to show us how we are so loved by Him and cared for by Him that even the ridiculous number of hairs on our head is known by Him.

Surely that puts a little bit of warmth in your heart that God cares about you. Even down to the minute details.

And so, as I prepare my workday I invite Jesus into it, ask Him to give me the extra strength and focus that I need to accomplish my tasks. I ask Him to keep the cold at bay and thank Him for caring about me.

Don’t forget to include God in your life, not just the big things but everything – for He is Lord of all – if you let Him.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Do you tell God about your day? Do you ask Him to be present to you in the what may seem like the mundane of life?

If you do tell God about your day, what do you say? If you don’t, why don’t you? How do you think asking God into your day would change your day?

How could you invite God into a situation in your life right now?
