Please Explain

I read something the other day, and my mind went Huh? I really needed an explanation of what I had just read.

There are so many times in life where a particular generic question pops up into our head. We hear a scripture from the Bible, a story and don’t understand what it means. We want to know what it means. How can it help us maybe in our life situation right now? What was Jesus trying to say?

The question can pop into our mind when circumstances occur in our lives that can be confusing. When we want to know why such and such is occurring or has occurred in our Life. Was it a sign from God about something? Why do some people get sick, and others don’t? Some seem to struggle more in life, why?

Why do we use those particular prayers at that particular time in church? What do those prayers even mean? Where did they come from? Who was inspired by the Holy Spirit to construct them?

The question is Please Explain? Why did that occur? What did that mean? I don’t understand so God would you explain it to me please?

How many times did the disciples ask Jesus to – Please Explain? What did that Parable mean? We don’t get it Jesus. This is stated in Mark’s Gospel.

With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it; he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples.

Mark 4:33-34 NRSV

Jesus desired his disciples, anyone who wanted to know more of the Father, to know and understand more of the Father’s heart, to seek what His parables, His stories, His words were truly trying to say.

Our God gave us enquiring minds to be used to try and understand what God is saying. To find out who God is, what He meant.

To some of us God has given brilliant intellectual brains that have written commentaries about what the scriptures are saying, what God is trying to convey to us. So don’t stop at just reading the Scriptures.  Lean on people who have gone before us and had the same questions.

The word of God IS the most important part but try to seek an understanding of what it means. Seek to find out how you can apply the principle in your life right now. Ask God to reveal these things to you. Ask God to ‘Please explain’ to you the understanding privately, like Jesus did with the disciples.

Seek God’s Mind, His heart, His Kingdom.

Don’t let your lack of intellect stop you though. There are many a Saint who was illiterate

but was given supernatural wisdom from on High and understood partially the heart and mind of God.

Are you seeking God with all your heart and asking of Him – Please Explain?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
