Ready for God’s Plans

Some of my immediate family are going on holidays. Overseas for the first time. The four children, my grandchildren, are sooooo excited. Talking about it. Researching about the best things to do and then making a plan for each day they are away. The anticipation can be seen and heard in their demeanour. The excitement is real.

It made me think.

Do I ever pause and wonder what momentous things God might be preparing to do next in my life?

How many moments of awe-inspiring anticipation do I miss by never being still before You Lord and allowing You to share Your plans for my life?

I need to learn to stop. To help me build a few moments of quiet time with You during my Prayer and at other times so as to listen to Your plans for me. To open myself up to what You want to do in me and through me.

I need to ask God that in those moments that He would reveal some of His plans for me and that I would be open and made ready for them. Knowing that He only wants the best for me.

We so often make all our plans and then get surprised when they don’t work out or God has something different planned.

We need to remember to ask God for guidance then we know that all things will work out.

As stated in Psalm 73

You guide me with your counsel,
and afterwards you will receive me with honour.

Psalm 73:24 NRSV

Another translation says

You guide me with your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.

Psalm 73:24 NLT

That what we need to remember – God’s plans lead us to a glorious future. Our destiny with Him forever.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Do you ever pause to wonder what God is doing in your life?

Are you giving Him space to speak to you and to work? Or do you hold your plans too tightly?

How often do you ask God for guidance with your plans? How do you think you could do this more?
