God Grows Us Little by Little
Different races, different cultures, different countries all coming together for one purpose. The focus is to reach out to those in need.
The needs are varied. Some mental, many physical and even more emotionally need help. Most of this help did not need financial means but time in, a time of sharing and caring.
What can we really do? Not much in the big scheme of things but little things soon add up.
Like the story of the boy on the shore throwing back into the water the starfish one at a time that had been washed up stranded on the beach. His effort was not much but more than doing nothing, he saved a few by his actions!
Women learn how to look after their children’s health with the addition of advice in caring emotionally and spiritually for them. Mothers coming together to share “their story” and receive encouragement and guidelines of what to do.
As I sat down to have lunch with a few of them, varied in age and life experience, one thing came to my mind. These women were open to learning. They all wanted to be the best Mother, Daughter, woman, they could be.
Often all they needed was a kind word of encouragement that they were doing okay. Some guidance was not rocket science but just everyday common sense. A tweaking here or there of the direction they were heading.
God has a method of little by little which encourages us to rely on Him and His perfect timing rather than relying on instant fixes. This method is so kind to us. It convicts us but does not condemn us. God shows us all that we all need The Savior.
Gradual change helps us build character, faith and wisdom, preparing us to steward the blessings and responsibilities God intends for us.
And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18 NRSV
While God is the one who ultimately changes us, we have a part to play by cooperating with the Holy Spirit and engaging with His word and principles.
So, what can I do? By myself, not much.
But with God? Amazing things!
May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.
