Who are you?

One of my granddaughters asked me an important question the other day.

What am I good at?

(She had been reflecting upon her sporting prowess… she thought she had none.)

I answered her honestly. I told her what I see in her.

Have you ever wondered who you are?

What about who you are in Christ?

What’s my purpose? Why am I here?

Firstly, we are here because out of His great love for us Our God created us. We all have a purpose to love God in return and to share the good news about what Jesus has done for us.

We were made to live with God forever, but when mankind chose against God (by eating of the fruit of the only tree forbidden to us) we became corrupt. Death entered the world and we who were made from nothing, were returning to nothing.

God the Father stepped in and sent his beloved Son in exchange for our punishment. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we have once more been given this incorruptible eternal life. Because of His grace and the gift of the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit we have been set free and given a re- birth into a life with God forever.

Nicodemus a Jewish Pharisee questioned Jesus about being born of the spirit?

Jesus answered, ‘Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.

John 3:5 NRSV

He believed his moral background, heritage, and strict obedience to religious laws guaranteed him a place in God’s kingdom. Nicodemus was instructed by Jesus…

Being born of the Spirit means the Holy Spirit performs an internal, supernatural miracle, giving a person a new heart, spiritual life, and a permanent relationship with God.


To do this for ourselves we need to seek after Jesus. Relate with Him in our everyday ordinary life and be open and listening to the leadings of the Holy Spirit.

God desires us to be fully us in the personality He has given, in our gifts given, to be used not just for us but for others to benefit by them.

We should be fully alive and content with where God has placed us.

Hopefully our relationship is ever deepening, and we are evolving into the best us we can be.

What are you good at? Who are you in Christ?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
