Sharing Jesus

Bruce and I have been travelling, meeting new friends, old friends.

Catching up where possible with some Impacters groups, those part of our spiritual family.

As I meet more people from different backgrounds I am reminded of Paul the Apostle where he shares in 1 Corinthians 9 that he adapts himself, his argument, his way of sharing with people so that those particular listeners can hear the gospel.

To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law) so that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, so that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that I might by any means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings.

1 Corinthians 9:21-23 NRSV

Apostle Paul describes becoming “all things to all people” in 1 Corinthians 9:22 to explain how he adapts his personal habits and cultural approach to share the Christian message with different groups.

We had one gentleman who was from a Spanish background and so English was his second language. He was enthusiastically listening to Bruce’s talk and was using his phone to translate every word into Spanish and recorded it in his own language. I was very impressed with his commitment and desire to hear God’s word.

It definitely made me feel a desire to use technology, our words, whatever is necessary to speak Jesus into those who would stop and listen.

Sometimes the world is not listening so does not hear but sometimes we as Christians are not being adaptive or reachable in how we are expressing ourselves.

Not everyone comes from the same background or culture.

It is our job to be Jesus to them in hands, feet, and voice but in a way they would understand.

Most ex-Christian’s just did not get it, did not understand the good news of Jesus Christ.

Are you willing to adapt your language, your sharing to share Jesus, the hope of the world with everyone you meet?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
