Do I Trust In God For Everything?
Bruce dropped me off at the entrance of the shopping centre while he went looking for a parking spot. That way it is easier on my knees if he needs to park a fair distant away. While I was waiting for him in the foyer, I was watching all the people going up and down the escalators. You heard the little boy before you saw him. He was about two years old. Full of energy and a few steps in front of his mother who was laden with bags. As he approached the sliding doors to the outside car park his Mum yelled out instructions. “Stop! Wait for me, there might be…
God Can Use Anything To Make Us Think
A friend of mine with her granddaughter met up with me and two of my granddaughters, to go to the movies together. One of my daughters with her daughter came along as well. All the adults enjoyed the movie Runt, and the children all seemed to as well, even though there was quite a bit of “talking” together during it. A lot of the movies nowadays are presented at two levels. There is the general storyline and then often an undercurrent of humorous lines that only the older or more mature pick up on. Even if there is no “adult humour” there are levels of understanding of what is going…
Do You Need Refreshment?
I have had some time off from some of my responsibilities lately. Some of the meetings, women’s groups that I am in, I had stepped away from for a break. Some time out to get physically, mentally, and spiritually refreshed. We do need to be kind to ourselves at times and take that time out. I was “doing” so much and felt tired by everything. It appeared to be all chores and I was depleted. I had nothing left to give because I was not filling myself up from God. I had been starving myself, trying to run the marathon with no nourishment. I was not spending enough time in…
Seeking True Contentment
Every day we are enticed by mail, brochures, social media ads, ads on tv to buy the latest …., keep up with what most people are doing…., to have more…., to think of you…. make yourself happy… get that younger you…. Oh, happy for how long? Till the next thing is bought, got, attained? Often reflecting upon myself and my thoughts – because you can really only do something about yourself – I often decide to not look at social media for a time, not to buy anything online, and I ask myself, “do I need that?” If I cannot use self- restraint (a gift from the Holy Spirit) will…
Where Loving Our Neighbour Starts
After a very restless night I woke to the alarm, remembering that I was babysitting all day. For most of the day it was a four-year-old then pick up three more children from school till either mum or dad arrived around 5pm. The little one first had breakfast (maybe a second one) and then helped me put on a few loads of washing. Then we drove to the shops to buy food for the weekend for an event the Ministry was putting on. We stopped and bought a hotdog and drink, taking our time sitting at a bench. Abigail was enjoying her hotdog and chatting away to me about stuff.…
