“By His Stripes we are healed.”

That line struck me while I was singing it in a song, especially in this season of Holy Week.

From Isaiah 53:5, “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him and by His stripes we are healed.”

Every lashing from the whip that Christ received onto His body … were they stripes?

He took every hurt, hatred, slur, disease, virus, isolation, pain, wrong, and sin upon Himself. All of these wrongs from all humanity that had been, was and into the future, were like lashes from a whip. He took it all upon himself.

Was all of this what was depicted in the stations of the Cross, written in the gospels for our good? For our healing? For our freedom? The answer is YES. For all for us.

His wounds fixed all of our faults, our rebellious deeds, our wrongdoing, wrong thinking, anything that had attributed to our eternal separation from God. He paid the ransom.

This punishment, this beating, this ridiculing, this crucifying that He took upon Himself for us, brought us PEACE.

Holes in us were made whole and were healed by his wounds. Holes in his hands and feet and side were offered up to His Father in repairing our holes in us, our frailty and our weakness in choosing wrong.

His Suffering gave us Hope.

His Death gave us Life.

Forever.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Yes I do recognise and acknowledge what Hesus has done for us by sharing my experiences to my 3 daughters and through those sufferings I have been through for all the years when I was raising them on my own being a single mother who went through being a victim of family domestic violence, I understood it was across fir me that I carried not on my own but with the mercy and grace of our God.
