Well, I don’t know about anyone else, but I thought this Covid virus would be abating by now a year on and the vaccine rollout happening around the world.  But when I read the news from different parts of the world, in some places like India, the virus numbers are the worst ever and the number of people dying is not stopping. What is happening Lord?

In many of the countries, areas that are not as affluent as others, the numbers sick are alarming, mainly due to poor hygiene, inability to social distance, lack of hand sanitizer and failing to even have a mask. Then if they get sick, lack of beds, lack of PPE gear and sadly lack of oxygen for those in desperate need.

This is what an Indian Doctor wrote

“Social distancing is a privilege. It means you live in a house large enough to practise it. Hand washing is a privilege too. It means you have access to running water. Hand sanitisers are a privilege. It means you have money to buy them. Lockdowns are a privilege. It means you can afford to be at home. Most of the ways to ward the Corona off are accessible only to the affluent. In essence, a disease that was spread by the rich as they flew around the globe will now kill millions of the poor. All of us who are practising social distancing and have imposed a lockdown on ourselves must appreciate how privileged we are. Many Indians won’t be able to do any of this……”

These second, third and fourth waves of the virus are happening right now!

And so, I invite you to a CALL TO PRAYER – like in 1 Timothy 2:1

“First of all, then, I urge that petitions (specific requests), prayers, intercessions (prayers for others) and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all people,…”

1 Timthoy 2:1 AMP

We need to pray to Our God for ALL people, no matter the race, colour, creed, or beliefs to come and heal, to come and miraculously save. These people are in need of a Saviour. All of us are.

The scripture goes on to say:

“…for kings and all who are in [positions of] high authority, so that we may live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

1 Timothy 2:2 AMP

—We live like kings in the rich and powerful nations of the world. We can speak up for ALL who can’t. We can petition to our governments to send help. To share what we have. We can encourage the government to continue to be selfless to all the countries in need. For those who don’t have.

And in Philippians it says:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God”.

Philippians 4:6 ESV

Saint Mother Teresa taught us well in caring for those less fortunate than ourselves. She tirelessly showed the face of Christ to ALL in need.

She put LOVE into action!

And from this LOVE, then she was heard. From this LOVE she spoke. From this selfless LOVE she gave, and from this selfless LOVE she reached people to come to know the Merciful Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us take up the CALL to LOVE.

By first praying and asking, pleading for God to come and protect those who can’t protect themselves. To miraculously Save the World.

Praying for a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and so learning to trust in Him completely.

That we all learn to walk by Faith and not by sight. Knowing that Our God has us in the “Palm of his hands.”

So Pray, Act, and Trust.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

How can you take up the Call to Prayer? What more can you do in your prayer to pray for all people in need?

Will you take up the Call to Love?

In your life are there selfless acts of love that you can show to others? What can you do to help someone else?

Thank you Rosemary your words are resonating in me because I have been struggling with the reality that we are relatively COVID free in our country, however there are many complaints about the delay in the vaccines roll out.
The vaccines should be sent to India and other
badly affected countries. Maybe this will help curb the virus. I’m happy to have my vaccine go to them.
Yes we will keep praying 🙏🏻 that our almighty God will make this virus disappear. His will be done.
May we learn the lessons he is trying to teach us

Well , the words of the Indian Doctor made me sit up and take note. Sometimes we don’t know how blest we are.
Dear God protect the most vulnerable.

We must never forget that there are many poor countries that are struggling in different ways because of the virus, their political situation, the lack of resources and so on. My heart feels heavy for them. I pray that I never cease praying for the less fortunate.

Dear Rosemary. Thank you for a wonderful time spent with you and the other ladies, and the delicious afternoon tea. My friend and I truly love what you do. Sorry I had to run off after I got a quick word in with Bruce, but missed you. Thank you again. God bless you both.

The basic things we can do for ourselves to help us stay Covid free are taken for granted in privlaged countries. Never thought of that! OMG please open our eyes and see how blessed we are. Please God help nations in need all around the world. We pray…. Amen

    Dear mrs downes,

I am a first time listener. I read some of your blog. Everything I have read is hitting me over the head. Especially the scriptures about being a more mature believer. I have been a Christian since I was 13, and spirit filled since I
Was 14. I am struggling with my faith.
I am hanging in there but it is so hard.
I wish I could be part of a group like you have
    Described..

I live in America. I have such respect for your ministry. I wish you could come to Buffalo,
    New York in america.

I have listened to Mr. Downes teachings a little bit. Again, I was hit over the head by what
    I heard.

I will pray for your ministry. I know that GOD
Is good all the time. I know that God is continuing to bless your ministry. From a believer in america: Jesus is Lord of all.

I need to stop writing for now. God bless you
    Until Jesus comes back.

What an eye opening message. I live in Indiana, US and the words from the doctor in India really hit me. It was so heartbreaking to learn those facts. I know now that prayers for the entire world need to be included every day by us all. Thank you for this message and your precious words.
