I’ve surprised myself lately by trying to learn a new computer program and being able to actually make it work and get results. The myth of “an old dog can’t learn new tricks” is not true! It often depends upon your attitude. I might be slower in grasping the concepts and running the program. I may need some reminders on – How do I do that again? – but I’m doing ok. I’m older now and my attitude is, “Well, I’ll just give it a go. I’ve got nothing to lose.” That actually is the attitude that flows into a lot of things in my life.

Following God – following His plan for my life. I take a day at a time. I want to follow the Lord’s will for my Life so every day, as many of us do, I give Him the day and start the day with Hope and Trust. What have I got to lose. He’s GOD! The perfect Father! He has the perfect plan for me. This attitude has allowed God to work in my heart and I am trusting Him more and more in and for my Life.

God tells us that His Mercies are NEW EVERY MORNING. So, God is telling us that He gives us another opportunity to call upon the Lord, cry out for His mercy, to try again, every day.

In Matthew 18:21-22:

Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?”Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Matthew 18:21-22 ESV

Jesus was basically telling us we need to forgive our brothers lots and lots and lots, because He, the Son of God, forgives us every time, if we have penitent hearts.

What is your attitude to someone who does you harm or is mean to you? What is your attitude to someone who takes some things from you that deplete you? What attitudes do you allow in your Life?

Yes, you can decide. You can make a choice of how you feel. How you cope. How you think of things. How you allow things to affect you. Now you don’t have to do it all by yourself. CALL UPON THE LORD. ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT.

He will give you courage, strength, joy, peace, kindness, patience, wisdom, perseverance, forgiveness, understanding, knowledge, counsel, awe of the Lord, fortitude, piety, love, goodness, gentleness, faith, modesty, self-control and chastity. These are the gifts and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. These can grow and develop.

I want to have an attitude like I did at twenty years of age, where life was just starting out…..where you still dreamed dreams. God wants us to look to Him and still dream. Still hope. Still “let’s go for it.“

Yes I may down the track , succumb to arthritis and may be using a walker to steady myself.  I may develop dementia or Alzheimer’s but while I still have a brain that works and there is still air in my lungs whatever I do, I pray I do it for the Lord and Praise His Name. I may live another 20, 30, 40 years?  My grandmother lived to 99. What am I going to do with all that time?

So I’m planning to not waste it. I’m lining my plans up hopefully with the Lord’s plans. Following His direction. Trusting in Him. What are you doing?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

It’s such a refreshing blessing to hear your words Rosemary. Our God is awesome and He has so many wonderful plans for our lives if we just stop striving and release everything to Him fully.
May you know His peace and sustaining presence every single day as you give all your plans to Him.
