5 January 2022

Entering into a new year can open up lots of possibilities. For students they can start from scratch. Fresh and ready for what studies the new course, the new subjects and the new classes bring.

For workers even if in the same job with the same boss and the same fellow workers, if our minds are open, it can bring new possibilities.

What will the new year bring?

Are we open to all things new?

Scripture tells us that even Our God has new mercies for us every morning. A new fresh start every day with Him. They never come to an end.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

And so I would like to pray this blessing for you and over you for the New Year. The blessing that God gave Moses for all the Israelites (God’s people) in Numbers.

May the Lord bless you

    and protect you.

May the Lord smile on you

    and be gracious to you.

May the Lord show you his favor

    and give you his peace.’

Numbers 6:24-26 NLT

But I love especially the Amplified translation of this scripture. This translation captures both the original Greek and Hebrew language and puts its meaning into English.

The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you];

The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor],
And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness, with His Grace];

The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval],
And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’

Numbers 6:24-26 AMP

I pray that this year be filled with God’s blessings, joy and peace in our hearts, in the work God has for each and everyone of us.
I pray for God’s blessings over the Ministry, in proclaiming Christ and encouraging all to love Him and their fellow human.
I pray for God’s wisdom and blessing over the plans we have for our lives and the plans we have for the Ministry.

So I am expectant for what God may do, may bring this year. I am expectant for His blessing and grace. I am confident in His guidance. Confident that He will never leave us and will walk with us throughout the Year. What more could I ask for?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love
