O God, I don’t understand but I trust in you.

I’ve just heard the news. I feel a bit numb. Tears are in my eyes and flowing down my face. I don’t know what to say, what to think. So many of us have been in this same situation. Another life lost to covid, to disease, to cancer, to an accident……

Oh God why? A life in years still so young. So much ahead of him, her…….just starting out, more to give……

And so I turned to my God for comfort, for answers….. My phone beeped. It was a message. After reading it I felt it was God’s reply

If you have been dealt a loss in your life lately Isaiah 57:1-2 is the perfect, most comforting verse.

Good people pass away;

the godly often die before their time.

But no one seems to care or wonder why.

No one seems to understand

that God is protecting them from the evil to come.

For those who follow godly paths

will rest in peace when they die.

Isaiah 57:1-2 NLT

I looked up the NRSV translation of this scripture.

The righteous perish,
    and no one takes it to heart;
the devout are taken away,
    while no one understands.
For the righteous are taken away from calamity,
     and they enter into peace;

Isaiah 57:1-2

Reflecting upon this scripture, knowing who God is and how He calls each and every one of us HOME one day, I feel a peace.  I don’t fully understand. But I trust that God does.

Just like Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:55

O death where is thy sting?

1 Corinthians 15:55 KJV

All of us left here, it is still hard, still painful. Yes, there is still grieving, we still hurt, but the sting of ultimate death is gone.  Jesus took that away, once and for ALL. Jesus did that for us on the cross.  The enemy has not won. Jesus bought for us the Victory of eternal life. We have ALL been given eternal life – if we accept it.

We will see our loved ones again with HIM in Paradise.

The comfort of that is immense. I lean into that and into God.

Do you need to know this too?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

    I need to trust God with my health at present – Covid and potential breast cancer. Trust also that my son is able to return safely home to Australia.
