Take a Deep Breath

I’m scraping the barrel.

And it’s not a tub of chocolate sauce. It’s a container full of lack of sleep, no energy, of trying to get all the tasks done, of under the pump, no time to spare.

Sometimes you want to get off the treadmill of life and stop awhile. When you had the time to stop you did not feel well enough to appreciate what you had, and things just passed you by.

I’m claiming covid brain cause I can’t even remember what I did for 8 days previously.

Now all deadlines have come back with a vengeance.

I’m holding up my hand.

I’m taking a deep calming breath.

Woah – I thought I was doing ok with everything until my husband said, “what’s wrong with you?” These words were said after I had sighed because the computer could not read my usb and I needed to print a few things for my work. One of those deadlines.

It was only a sigh. A frustrated sigh, yes, but only a sigh.

I felt like bursting into tears.

The Spirit whispered to me, “Draw from THE wellspring of life – that never runs dry – your container is weak, is frail, is finite.”

But the love and grace from God is infinite! You will never be scraping from the bottom with Him.

Grace upon grace is given.

From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace.

John 1:16 NRSV

More and more I’m realising the work God is graciously doing in me. Work that needs to be done in me.

When stress situations arise it is what comes out of our heart and in our words, in our demeanour that shows us truly how we are coping and where our heart is.

Sorry Lord.

I did not do too well. I held my tongue, but my stress levels just rose even higher.

Back to your drawing board Lord.

Back to ask and receive more grace, more usages of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

So once again – thank goodness for His patience with me, H. s love and forgiveness extended to me- I decided to begin again from now. To extend Christian charity to all. To receive that charity from my Saviour.

To receive the “all things” through Christ who gives me strength…Phil 4:13 …..who gives me hope… Who gives me forgiveness…

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13 NRSV

Where do you need to draw from this everlasting well of love and grace? Are you drawing from HIM or doing it in your own steam?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Be patient with yourself Rosemary, you have just survived a virus, which has killed millions of people worldwide. My mother always told us to, “ Listen to your body “. A Pastor, I know makes the same statement. You need to rest and let the good lord do his work within you. We can all wait for you to recover properly.
Sending oceans of love your way and praying for you.

God Bless you Rosemary. I agree with the other Lady’s. Take time to recover properly, & be kind to yourself. Soak up God’s mercy & love, then return to us when you are fulfilled.

Thank you Rosemary. You put into words things that I’m not even aware are in my heart. You help me to know my feelings better and to trust God with them. Take good care of yourself. Think of how you care for someone you love when they are recovering from an illness and give yourself the same loving care. Speak up when someone asks you what’s wrong with you. Tell them what you need. I need you to make me some soup, to let me nap for an hour, to run me a hot bath. You beautiful Rosemary are worth caring for! God loves you!!

Rosemary, I too have just recovered from COVID. And it is frustrating. I had heaps of appointments lined up and had to reschedule them. Volunteer commitments, helping my daughter get her house ready for ‘inspection’, Mass, sacramental prep for children. All put on hold. But I did get through it but there is residual brain fog and tiredness. And fighting the ‘I can’t bE bothered’ attitude. But really it is a time to be kind to ourselves as well as accept the kindness of others. It is a time to be grateful too. Grateful for the soup my friend bought to my door when I really didn’t have the energy to cook, my daughter dropping some much needed food in my garage, the local chemist for dropping medications at my door, and the many phone calls checking on my welfare. I live alone, but I wasn’t alone because God was with me and he provided what I needed. Helen

Rosemary I can really relate to how you feel as I’ve had covid myself!!! But it was not just me but every person in my family!!! Funny how I was the first to display symptoms. What I recall was how tired and strange I felt. I remember praying to the Lord asking Him,”What should I do Lord?” The word that came back to me was “Rest” then,” Sleep as much as you can!” I thought to myself, i’ll give it a try and see what happens. I did have to admit I felt better for doing both as much as possible! By the third day my husband commented that I appeared normal to him while he was feeling terrible, coughing, sneezing and walking wonky. My son too had a fever, was coughing, sneezing and felt very weak for a week or two. His girlfriend on the other hand kept her distance for a couple of days, slept a lot and came out of covid as rapid as I did! May I suggest to you Rosemary, that you rest and sleep as much as you can and know the Lord is looking after you. As many prayer requests has been sent to Him on your behalf. You do such great work for the Lord and for us!!! Now
it’s the Lord’s and our turn to do the work that’s needed for you to recover!… Rest in Him Rosemary and see what happens. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe.
    In Christ’s Love

    Dear Rosemary,
You’re such a courageous person, strong and compassionate, but as others have mentioned,
Rest and look after yourself. We’ve had covid too,
then a few other families sickness, hospital visits, babysitting.. I didn’t stop and ended up with a very bad infection and I was drained.. we think we can do it all, our body is saying Rest.
Sending you lots of hugs and prayers🙏 Our God us walking with us everyday 🥰
