Our God of Abundance

I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

John 10:10b NRSV

I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

John 10:10b AMP

Many of us, if not all of us have heard this scripture many times. But have we truly heard it?  I heard it the other day with a different mindset, a different slant.

Jesus came to give us abundant life. Another way of putting it is that Jesus, the son of God, is the God of abundance.

What does this abundance mean? The dictionary meaning is – a very large quantity of something. The spiritual meaning is – having everything and more than we need. Lacking nothing.

So, extrapolating…

Our God has abundant Grace.

Our God has abundant Love

Our God has abundant Mercy

Our God has abundant Forgiveness.

Our God has abundant Provision.

Our God has ……….

In all things if we truly surrender to Him, if we follow Him, in return we receive this abundance.

Maybe it does not account to wealth, to increasing our bank accounts, our retirement funds, to our belongings, things ….. but even in monetary matters we will lack nothing.

Maybe we can’t live like the “Jones’s”, the neighbours that seem to have it all. But Our God will send love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and more.

The miracle of the 5 Loaves and 2 fish show Our Abundant God in action. He feeds the crowd of about 12,000 (the number including females and children), and still has leftovers that fill up 12 baskets FULL.

That Abundant Full attribute of God. He can’t help himself.

Giving and giving some more. So, we can feed off the leftovers, have some for later…….

I was drawn to read Psalm 50:10. I often read this section when I am in need. Need of paying a bill, need financially for something, need for the Ministry……

For every wild animal of the forest is mine,
the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know all the birds of the air,
and all that moves in the field is mine.

Psalm 50:10-11 NRSV

I often in prayer say – “Lord I need half a cow. You own the cattle on a thousand hills could you please spare one, even half for me …….” (I don’t know how He is going to give me half but nothing is impossible for God!)

Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Matthew 6:26 NRSV

It blows your mind when you honestly think about it.

Jesus tried to teach the apostles this concept to live by – God will provide.

Jesus asks the disciples when he sent them out to do Ministry with no bag, no food, no provisions, did they lack anything? NO was the reply. (Luke 22:35)

Do you trust in the GOD of ABUNDANCE?  I’m learning to do so.

Do you know that you can Live your Life with an Abundant mindset? You will lack nothing. I’m learning to do so. Are You?

Do you have stories to share of God giving to you out of Abundance? Why don’t you share them with us? Build up Our Faith, Our Trust in God.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

    1. Yes absolutely.

    2 Yes GOD always provides

3 Although we struggled financially in the early years of our marriage and whilst we were raising our five children. GOD provided sufficent for our needs. He gave me the opportunity and the strength needed to complete a course of srtudy, which gave us much needed extra funds and allowed me to work from home. One of our children was an under achiever, so the help she needed, cost a lot of time and money. GOD gave me both the energy to deal with a very busy life and the finances required to pay for the treatment to help her overcome her problems. It did work to a certain extent, though I have often regretted that course of action and after hearing Emma’s story about her little girl, thinking that it would have been better to just help her to be the best version of herself she could be. Really admire Emma and her husband for the way they are helping their daughter. Since then he has blessed us abundantly. I thank the Lord my GOD every day for all of it “The good, The bad, The beautiful and the ugly”

Our gracious God does always provide. For us it has been a home, a few times, & on into our retirement as well. Oh God does truly provide in abundance even for life itself. 💓💓

Thank you Rosemary for reminding me how much our Loving God gives and gives and gives to us!!! I do not mean in providing wealth, even though my husband in the past did receive a good wage! Despite this there were times when we would be short of finances, both my own parents and my husband’s parents without asking them, would hand over to us unexpectedly that bit extra that was required! Only today I was having a conversation with a new parishioner, among many things, the difficulties facing many of us financially in these times of high interest rates, the price hike of food and electricity and the rise of rental properties! I then told the parishioner that I have to thank the Lord for the roof I have over my head,as there are many around the world that are homeless. To thank the Lord also for the food I have in the fridge, as we know there are many that have nothing to eat! I then had to admit even in the past when I was far away from the Lord, He was looking after me!!! All those wrong places I went to find love, I put myself in danger. I honestly believe that the Lord protected me and kept me from harm and alive!!! How abundantly caring and protective is our Loving God!!!
May the Lord bless you abundantly Rosemary! I also want to thank the Lord for your recovery too! How GOOD is our God???!!!

This may not seem very important but when you have a 12 year old boy who wanted to go to scout camp and I having no money was going to have to tell him I could not afford to let him go. The week before the money was due – I received a check made out to the scout troop for the full amount of the camp. I never knew who the money came from – but my boy was a very happy camper. The Lord has always provided for our needs. Being a single mom I knew I could always rely on him.

God bless you all at your beautiful ministry.
