Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Have you ever done a whole lot of washing and then things happened in the day that you got so busy that you never got a chance to fold and put everything away? Then the next day and the next day it occurred again and, coming from a family of 7, the piles of washing grew into mountains, or so it seemed. The loads of folding that came from those loads of washing, once added to the original pile, became a mountain of clothes. Added to that pile was 3 days of baby’s cloth nappies. (No, I did not use disposables – they were not around much when my children were little and very costly.) By now the necessity of folding became important due to members of the family running out of clothes.

Maybe you have not had a huge clothes pile to fold but a pile of assignments due all around the same time with that extra study that you are doing, or you have all that correcting and marking to be done for the final exams of your students.

Maybe it’s all the paperwork you must go through in finalising your tax affairs and you don’t know where to start.

Maybe you’re trying to sell your parents’ home, who are moving into a nursing home and there is “so much stuff” to go through…….

Whatever it is, it has built up in your life in a busy time of your life and you can’t see the end. You can’t see your way through.

It’s so overwhelming!

Well, that’s where I was just recently. This was where my heart, my spirit was – facing an overwhelming mountain of……..

The energy was not there. The headspace, let alone the time to action the plans, were not there either.

Then someone that I had been sharing with about my life, my present situation, sent me some scripture to read. It spoke so much to me – to where I was at.

After reading God’s Word and meditating upon it, it brought me peace.

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.

Psalm 61:1 AMPC

(My cry was one of frustration, of an overwhelming feeling , and God was listening to my words, my thoughts, my feelings, my prayers.)

From the end of the earth will I cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and fainting; lead me to the rock that is higher than I [yes, a rock that is too high for me].

For you have been a shelter and a refuge for me, a strong tower against the adversary.

Psalm 61:2-3 AMPC

(I now remember what you have done for me in my past, what you have done for others – how faithful You are.)

I will dwell in Your tabernacle forever; let me find refuge and trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

PSalm 61:4 AMPC

So can I encourage others who are in a place where they feel overwhelmed… Go Selah. Go pause and calmly think, ‘who is my Rock? Who is my Shelter? Whose wings can I take refuge in?’

Do you feel that sigh that came from me? Relief. God has Got all of this. God has me. God has my situations in hand.

He has yours too, if you trust in Him and give it to Him.

Where do you need to pause and sigh with relief?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Are you trusting in God as your Rock?

Do you need to take time to reflect on who you are trusting in your life? Are you doing it all in your own strength?

Oh Rosemary that speaks to me soo much! I have recently felt very overwhelmed. So overwhelmed I actually cried in a govt. office as I couldn’t get the license I needed over a hyphen missing in one of my ID’s. Rules are rules I know and the same day I have lost a car key which is still missing. Then the rains came and yes washing etc.
Thank you yet again for your inspiring words and scriptures and helping me to feel I’m not alone.

Thanks for sharing your heart with us, Rosemary and once again, reminding me that God loves me constantly and consistently…always and in all circumstances. He meets us exactly at the point where we are and calms, soothes and reassures our fears, anxieties, frustrations. Praise God! God bless.

My dearest Rosemary, you’re words of your experiences speak louder than we can even comprehend or even understand. A famous passage of scripture run and he shall not be weary walk and he shall not faint. In life when stress and anxiety those two play on your soul. My experience is all prayer 🙏 trust follows into action, by following your heart ❤️ it managed to slow you down and be in that moment then a sense of calmness surrounding you.

Thank you Rosemary. I have been overwhelmed with company. I love my Grands very much and enjoy them. At times I am very tired and I do need to know that God is my refuge and strength.
