Miracles Happen Here

Mum asked the children to clean their rooms. Aubrey who is 6 and Willow who is 4 share a room. They asked their Mum, Melissa, to set a timer for them while they cleaned it. So, Melissa put on a stopwatch timer to time how long it took them to clean. This has often been a way Melissa has got the children to pack up their toys when they were younger. Making it a bit of a game, to see how fast they can do it.

After 8 minutes, both girls came out of their room and said they were done. Melissa was surprised it only took that long, so she went in to check on the room.  Melissa asked them how it was done so quickly. The reply from Aubrey was gorgeous …. “cos miracles happened in here.”

Oh, if only we could have the belief, the faith, to say ….. “miracles happened in here, in my life here, in my circumstances here, in my family here, in my work here…….”

Remember the story in the scriptures where Jesus visits his hometown. He had been travelling around teaching, preaching, performing miracles everywhere He went.

Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked.  “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?  Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” And they took offense at him.

But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”

AND HE DID NOT DO MANY MIRACLES THERE BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF FAITH.

Matthew 13:54-58 NIV

So let us be like little children and believe that miracles happen here. May we announce to all that we meet – to doctors, teachers, students, friends, relatives, brothers, sisters, mums and dads ….. that miracles happened here, in our lives and God did it!

Let us NOT give up hope. Let us hold on to our FAITH and when we doubt, when we have those feelings of woe, let us say the prayer of that Father who brought his child to Jesus to heal (The one whom the disciples could not heal) found in Mark 9:14-26.

The Father in verse 22b says

But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

Mark 9:22b-26 NIV

Hold on to your faith, especially when it looks bad, especially when you feel low.

Where do you need to cry out this prayer?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Through my daily life I am able to say miracles happen here. Thank you Jesus. In my darkest hours of weakness I’ve cried out help me with my unbelief. Thank you for your reminder of these times. I have survived a horrific car accident and 4 years later an operation which resulted in septicemia. Both times I was not expected to live, yet here I am. Indeed. Miracles happen here.
