It’s All Worth It!

I know I’m getting older but after the few days of painting, measuring, carrying, cleaning, driving, walking, picking up things, holding tools, acting as a labourer’s assistant, making drinks for many (and the list doesn’t stop there) … I am tired.

My bones and muscles ache. My knees feel wobbly, especially if I try to bend down. It made me laugh really. Shows me how unfit I am. Or at least the lack of usage of some of the muscles.

The funny thing is the whole team of people with us are feeling the same.  We gave our all. On the day after the event, we just looked at each other, slumped in our chairs.

But it was all worth it.

Ever been there, tired but satisfied at all your hard work?

We had just finished 2 weekends of presentations to groups of people about knowing Jesus.

Upon reflection, my heart was not fully content. I was spurred onwards to reach more, do more, for Christ.

I was happy how the afternoons had gone but my mind was thinking immediately of how we could do better to reach more… market better to reach more… how to express words better for more to Know Jesus.

I also was meditating upon my own self knowing Jesus, and there is just so much more to know about Him, to go deeper in my understanding and love for Him. How can I serve the Lord more and better? To bring my all. My best for Him.

A lot is to actually take time away with Him personally. He desires an intimate personal relationship with us, and this can only occur if we give Him our time, our energy, our heart.

Yes, it does take effort, a different effort to the physical work we had just completed. That’s the practical side of us. What is truly necessary is giving Him the Spiritual Side of “Us.” An effort of the internal us, our spirit, soul, and mind.  An effort to focus on Him with all our hearts when we spend time with Him. This is where we are vulnerable. An open book read by the Lord and still completely loved. Wow God completely loves me no matter what I’ve done, no matter where I’ve been, no matter who I am!

But He loves me too much to leave me where I am, always drawing me with love towards Himself. Drawing us with Love towards the best US we were created to be. Jesus draws us to Himself, especially now after His Resurrection and eternal Life has been given back to us, as described in John:

And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.

John 12:32 ESV

His love for us is described in Jeremiah:

the Lord appeared to him from far away.
I have loved you with an everlasting love;
therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

Jeremiah 3:13 ESV

And so, as I sit and stretch my sore muscles, my tired body is all worth it. All worth it for Him. All worth for those we serve to come and know Jesus for the first time or to go deeper in knowing Him for the thirty-first time.

What is God calling you to do?  To work hard? To pray more and more effectively? To draw closer to Him?

For we are all called. It is our choice.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Rosemary, all your efforts were well worth it. I am still buzzing with the joy of knowing Jesus from the talks Bruce and yourself gave and from the help given us by your staff on Saturday. Well done to you all. May God bless you in all your endeavours to teach more and more people about God.

Thank you, Rosemary, and all the team who worked hard to make the Brisbane event so successful. It was great to meet you, Bruce, Justin, Claire and John. I am still reflecting on what was said by Bruce and you. A part of the afternoon that really stood out was the period of silence in darkness, with Bruce’s occasional words. I need to do that more often to listen for God’s voice. God bless you all.

Rosemary I’m so glad, that all the effort that was made, was so appreciated by those who attended the Event with both you and Bruce in Brisbane!!! I’m sure that our Lord would have been pleased too!!! But you are so spot on by stating that we need to spend quality time with our Loving God!!! It is very beneficial for us that we do! I’m able to give to my Lord the love that He so deserves in this very important ever deepening, loving relationship that I will have for eternity, by making time to reciprocate the great Love He has for me. But as important is to spend time listening to what our Loving God wants to say to me. Usually through the words of His Only Son, our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in the Sacred Scriptures as well as in my heart, along with our Holy Spirit, our Great Paraclete!!! As I was praying the Holy Rosary with both you and Bruce, I did want the Lord to speak to me concerning a situation. I used a word in my thoughts that I thought was appropriate to ask the Lord for. As I flicked through the Bible my eyes fell on a passage of Scripture in Luke. Just like that, there was the word!!! Our Loving God truly hears the prayers of our hearts and responds often through His Son, our Lord Jesus!!! So the Will of my God is to pray always and not to lose heart!!! May you be blessed abundantly Rosemary and Bruce for the effort, time, prayers you give for our Great, Wonderful, Loving God and for us all too!!!

Thank you so much Rosemary and Bruce for an inspiring experience last Saturday afternoon. All the preparation and enormous effort put in by both you and your team was very obvious and no wonder you were all exhausted. It was so good to see you both in person and be encouraged and enlightened by your explanation of scripture. Your enthusiasm, strong faith and humour too made the afternoon such a joyful experience. God bless you for all you are and do.
