How Remarkable

Oh, what a remarkable lady! All the world could see it and now they are acknowledging it. Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96.  The tributes start rolling in from many people.

What stands out to me is how so many of the ordinary Englishmen talk about how the Queen was always there for them. She was constant, reliable, true. Many spoken to by reporters felt that they would miss her because she had always been there. She had this constancy about her character and her failings were rare. She was greatly admired by many.

Queen Elizabeth was appointed to the role at a very young age, facing many challenges, yet she succeeded in being a force for national cohesion. She seemed to never utter a controversial opinion in public, loyal to all. In this position she kept her personal life private to those she loved, those closest to her.

Oh yes what a lady!

Reflecting upon all of this I started to be drawn to the Son of God, Jesus’ existence on the Earth, many centuries ago. Appointed to a role even before His birth, facing way more challenges than the Queen. Being a force for cohesion to the whole world, ready to give the gift of eternal life to all mankind. He said Yes to His Father and sacrificed his whole self for all of us. Complete and total.

Jesus in His position never held anything back. His Life was on display for all to see.  He is loyal, constant, reliable, and true. He has no failings. He is who He says He is. He does what He says He does.

To those He loves, to all God’s creatures, Jesus is pure love. He holds nothing back. But if people love Him in return the benefit is immense. People who love Jesus, who get to know Him more personally, go deeper in their love for Him. His love draws us to Himself. Love begets love. Being in His presence we cannot help but be changed for the better.

There were tears in people’s eyes, falling down their faces as they heard about the Queen’s death. The grief was immense. She had been there 70 years. She had given her life of service to the people of England, but she was only human.

Were there tears falling down people’s faces when they reflected upon the death of Jesus? Do we grieve? Was there a huge procession of people lined up to honour Him when He died?

He has been there for all of eternity. He has given his Life to ALL people and is the Son of God. His existence has always been and always will be.

The Queen did an amazing job.  She carried out her duties with honor.

But For Our Lord it was for LOVE of us. He carried out a duty he did not have to but chose to so that we might live with him forever. It is actually our duty to serve Him, Our King.

So as we watch all of the honor given to the Queen on our television sets, the public display of thanks to her life of Service do we reflect upon our honor for Our Lord like this ? Do we show a public display, no apologies, of thanks to Our Lord’s life of Love and Service?

 It makes you think.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Dear Rosemary, I also couldn’t help thinking, whilst watching the pomp and ceremony, of this great and faithful ladies funeral, about how different for our king and saviour The Lord Jesus Christ, who is also God the Father and also the Holy Spirit, when he died.
Where was the procession of mourners, where the adulation of the multitude, where were those, whom he had healed. Yet it was not our Lords way, to live and die in extravagance. His way is a simple way, a way to emulate and follow, Oh! If only we could.
The late queen, had one other steadfast and admirable trait, which was not made much of and that was, her deep and abiding faith in GOD
    Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Rosemary for jotting in your journal about Queen Elizabeth passing away and the effect she had on most of her nation. What impressed me most about the late Queen was her faith in our Loving God, when many have either left God behind and His Church, or as in the case of later generations may know our Lord Jesus only by name and not personally. Yet if we compare the reaction of the people in Jesus time to His death; the betrayal, the disrespect, the dishonour, the disappearance of many of His faithful followers, from fear of the same death sentence, and the honour, respect, praises and the outward pouring of sorrow and regret from the late Queen’s British subjects, as well as the great ceremonial funeral procession thousands came to see, the contrast is immense!!! But I also would like to add, that those anxious, religious figures that were so threatened by our Lord Jesus while He walked the earth who had believed, the best way to eliminate His potential power and popularity and the possible changes that would have taken place within the faith of God’s people, would be to see Him die a shameful death, then all would return back to normal, could not have been so badly mistaken!!! So wrong!!! As I look back over 2000 years after our Lord Jesus’ crucifixion, how many millions became Christians??? Royalty, the wealthy, the poor, men, women and children alike, the dedicated followers of Christ who formed Religious Orders and devoted their entire lives in serving our Great God the Father, His Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ and the power of the Great Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, who then became tremendously influential, and powerful at one stage themselves!!! ….May I add the late Queen Elizabeth of England herself amongst us!!!
May the Lord keep blessing you Rosemary and keep giving you insights, inspiring you with these great journal writings that encourages us to respond and participate in the discussions that pop up through them! And gives me the desire to keep on tapping away!!!
    In Christ’s Love
