Early Morning Starts

It was an early morning start. Left the hotel at 5.30am to go to the airport and catch the plane to our next destination. I was already tired from previous flights and lack of sleep. We arrive in heaps of time for the flight, but it is delayed leaving by an hour due to a malfunctioning toilet door! Then when we are all onboard, the announcement states that the forward door is closed and get ready for take-off. After waiting a few minutes, the pilot announces there will be a delay while they look for the other load of baggage on a trolley somewhere????

After about half an hour the captain announces we can now leave. Taxiing out to the outer runway we get parked. I assumed just waiting our turn to be allowed to take off by the tower.

Again, an announcement comes over the speaker, there is a storm delay, so we need to wait for it to pass. About 35 minutes later another announcement from the captain. If the storm does not move soon, we only have an extra 30 minutes of fuel on board so might have to go back to the dock to re-fuel.

Oh, the frustration in waiting. We needed to get to our destination due to an event we were putting on. Both Bruce and I wanted to get there early so that we could have a lie down beforehand, freshen up, pray……

Finally, we have about 5 minutes of extra fuel to go before turning back and we are allowed to fly.

We arrive on a one-and-a-half-hour flight – 8 and a half hours later!

Travel is so tiring!

We arrive at 4.15 pm at our hotel, only about 30 minutes to freshen up and begin.

The night went well but I was so tired.

I don’t sleep well on planes even though there was opportunity to sleep. I nearly fell off my chair in my tiredness and felt like my brain was like scrambled eggs.

I had to really dig deep into stamina and the Holy Spirit to sustain me.

In Isaiah 46:4 God reminds us that it is HE who sustains us- physically, mentally, spiritually.

Even to your old age (love this- over all the years, no matter our age, God is faithful and still sustains us)

and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Isaiah 46:4 NIV

To be honest. God was 100% carrying me. I had nothing left in me to continue. So tired. But I did KNOW the FAITHFULNESS of GOD!

My head hit the pillow hours later and I was asleep in seconds.

Thank you Lord for all that you did and are doing. I totally lean into you. My feet are dragging but I know you lift me up.

The road ahead looks bleak, but I know that you will rescue me. You will sustain me on my journey. You are carrying me.

Is there a time, even now, where you need to KNOW that GOD IS FAITHFUL and IS CARRYING YOU, SUSTAINING YOU? I encourage you to let go and fall into the loving arms of God.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Thank you Rosemary for sharing with us what it has been like for you and Bruce recently, while travelling to your destinations! I haven’t had to travel too far to experience the kind of exhaustion you have Rosemary. I just needed to pack in all that was required for me to do around the home, plus ensure that I spent time with the Lord in prayer, participate in my Daily Devotionals, watch and hear your messages and pod casts Rosemary and read the Daily Readings for Mass and other emails, wash and blow dry my hair have a shower, prepare breakfast for the following morning and get to bed, in order to get up in time for morning Mass or for a doctor’s appointment, or what other task I need to get out to do that day!!! And then I thank the Lord who helps me to do it all!!! Because without His help I don’t believe I could do it all!!! Rosemary you as well as Bruce are doing such amazing work for the Lord and for all you reach out to for the Lord!!! And you are right about the Lord helping, sustaining, encouraging, strengthening you both!!! Even upholding you both when feeling little or no energy in your tanks!!! And let me not forget the Lord’s Favour He bestows, the blessings He gives You both and for me and my family too!!! Thank You Lord for what You do for us all!!!
