His Mercies are New Every Day!

Well, the jingles and the bells have been put away till next Christmas (the tree is still up) but I am looking forward to the new Year. Mentally it makes me feel like a fresh start for my life, even though you can have a fresh start every day. Remember the scripture…

“His mercies are new every morning.”

Lamentations 3:23

I looked at the scripture reference here and the book of Lamentations is a collection of poetic laments for the destruction of Jerusalem in 587 BC. It describes the humiliation, suffering and despair of Jerusalem and her people in that time.

What rises out of that despair is this beautiful verse. This is so like God to bring HOPE to his people. Starting at verse 19 in chapter 3…

The thought of my affliction and my homelessness
    is wormwood and gall!
My soul continually thinks of it
    and is bowed down within me.
But this I call to mind, (REMEMBER)
    and therefore I have HOPE:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
    his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:19-23 NRSV

So remember, if you are in, or as the year progresses, feel like you are in a dark place, a hopeless place, be reminded of this scripture.

WITH God who is faithful, and Loving towards us forever, His Mercy will come to us.

Hold on to the HOPE that he is for our world and for the whole world.

So may I extend to you the warmest of hugs and Happy New Year and may we all look to Our Savior, the Hope of the World this coming year.

God’s Almighty Blessings be upon you all

Love always

Rosemary. xx

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups. If you would like more information please click HERE.

    Thank you Rosemary for sharing with us the Scripture verses in Lamentations 3 : 19 – 23 that encourages us even in difficult, dark circumstances that there is HOPE in the Lord ALWAYS! Lately I have been opening up the Bible to the pages in Isaiah 48. The verses from 17 to 22 has had me baffled for a while. Verse 17 really speaks to me as does verses 20 and 21. Especially how the Lord is teaching me and also leading me in the way I should go! This resonated with a reflection I read this morning, the Liturgical reading from Matthew 2 : 13 – 18 from Mother Hilda Scott. She finishes with a prayer and requests we pray this prayer often: Open my heart, O Lord and turn it in the direction of You. Amen. I have been praying about God’s Will, where He would like me to go, what He would like me to do and how He intends for me to be, amongst many other requests… I do feel as if the Lord is listening to me and responding to me in unexpected ways!!! As for mercy, I will be praying for the Lord’s mercy more often after seeing your Daily Devotional Rosemary!!! I am beginning to approach certain individuals during this Christmas and upcoming New Years season who appear to be sad and lonely, to chat with them and say that I hope they may have a Happy Christmas and New Year, that I will be praying for them. To others I just say have a Happy Christmas and New Year, just to uplift them during this special time, while I look around and notice there are less Christmas trees in sight and only one Nativity Scene I saw in a Shopping Mall!!! Please keep up the good work that you do for the Lord and for us Rosemary!!! May the Lord keep blessing you also abundantly, as well as Bruce and all your family, may you all have a Happy New Year!!!
    In Christ’s Love
