Be Open to What God Wants

It’s only been one week, and I’m not doing well but the heat here is so depleting of my energy. Well, that’s my excuse anyway. The exercise regime that I had planned just has not occurred. But ladies I am not beaten, just a false start.

I’ve actually changed my plan of attack, I’ll either go to the swimming pools and exercise there, or at least somewhere where there is air-conditioning. I remember seeing a walking class in the middle of a shopping centre. The group were wearing all their gym clothes with sneakers and walking up and down the aisles at a reasonable pace. I did not pick it at first. I was waiting for my family at a designated spot and had arrived early, so decided to just sit and wait.

After a lady walked past me for the third time, I realised what she was doing.

So, I could join a group or just do it myself.

See I’m not beaten, just changing tack, adjusting to the conditions around me.

A little aside that you will laugh about… Bruce and I were in New York a few years ago. He had gone down to breakfast earlier than me and as I was heading there a lot of runners got into the lift with me. When I sat down at the table, Bruce commented that New York was such a happening place and so many people were focused on getting fit and running. They have been everywhere this morning. I laughed out loud and said “Bruce, today is the New York Marathon!” We had a good chuckle together.

So, if I can do this in my Physical being – change my decisions slightly because of what may happen in life – then when circumstances change in my mental and spiritual decisions I can adjust too.

Don’t give up!

I’m speaking to myself here but also to anyone reading this.

HOLD on to your choices unless the God above changes them on you.

ALWAYS be OPEN to what God wants. The biggest problem here is discerning the will of God. Mankind throughout scripture has had this dilemma. For WE can get involved so much in our decisions and choices.

But if we have SURRENDERED HEARTS God will guide us.

Again, remind yourself or go get informed what other saints, good men and women have done before us.

Joseph, Mary’s husband, had decided to divorce Mary quietly when he was told she was with child. But God sent a message while he dreamt to marry the girl.

Can we not trust God enough that if we have our hearts right and make a wrong choice that he will intervene if necessary? Again, discern well and NOT by yourself. Go to others that you trust for Godly wisdom, people who are humble and living Godly lives. Go to God and ask Him for the Spirit of Discernment. He will not let you down.

So as the year goes on, I’ll tell you how I am going.

How about you? Have you started yet? Or not even made any change or choices?

It’s not too late. The year has just started.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Rosemary

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups. If you would like more information please click HERE.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

How has your year started in regards to things you want to focus on this year? Have you started?

Do you have a surrendered heart to God? Are you able to trust in Him even if you make a wrong choice? Do you find it hard to surrender to God?

Thank you Rosemary for sharing with us on being open to what God wants!!! Those questions you ask us about if we have started focusing on those things we want to this year, and if we have surrendered our heart to God and are we able to trust Him if we make the wrong choice. They are worth reflecting upon and remembering more often for me. Especially when I have made the wrong choice of not doing His Will, as I just have recently!!! It is not being able to trust in our Lord that is the problem, it is being able to trust that I can go to the Lord and ask for the Lord’s help once again to do His Will, after such a humiliating short time in this new year!!!… I am so grateful that the Lord is with me and is so merciful, He forgives me my failings because of HIS LOVE FOR ME!!! May the Lord keep blessing and inspiring you Rosemary in your Jottings, in your Heart messages and pod casts!!!
