You are a Daughter of the King!

Daddy says to his little girl (One of my 4-year-old granddaughters) “How’s my Princess?”

My granddaughter says, “I’m not a princess Dad.” “I’m a girl. I’m just a little girl.”

Do we need to be reminded that we are Princesses?

For that is what God Our Father, our heavenly Dad, calls us – His Daughter and so therefore His Princess for He is the King. We are not just His little girls but His little (or big) Princesses.

He wants us to come to Him. He draws us to Himself. He loves us.

“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Matthew 19:14

And again in 1 John 3

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are!“

1 John 3:1

So, if we are God’s children, God’s Princess, His little (or big) girls, His daughters, then we have privileges. We may not have been born into this privileged position (being born a Christian) but once we are put into or select this position because we acknowledge Jesus as Our Saviour and Lord, and God as our Father, we ALL receive these privileges.

 We become a Child of God. So, what are these privileges?

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ….

Romans 8:15

This same passage states we are NOT slaves but have sonship/daughtership so therefore have authority. We should live with a confidence and poise about us for we have been given this place of honour.

We can approach God as Abba Father, or in our language Dad or Daddy or Papa. We have been given the privilege to be intimate with Our God. He encourages this so much. He desires to have a relationship with each of us. But we not only use the Father’s name we CALL OUT TO HIM.

We cry Abba Father…..

Romans 8:15b

In Romans 8:16 it states that the Spirit testifies on our behalf, that we are God’s Children. HE stands up for us! And tells us He really loves us. Oh WOW! HE gives us assurance that we truly are in God’s Family.

Also being an heir, it means we have an incredible future. Not only does the eldest in God’s family inherit all His wealth but ALL children in God’s family get equal share of this wealth. The GLORY that is to come and is given to all is simply amazing. GODSmackingly amazing!

These are just some of the privileges given to us by God when we acknowledge him.

So please do NOT forget you are NOT simply a little girl.

YOU ARE A PRINCESS. A DAUGHTER OF THE LIVING GOD!

So go and live like one.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
