A Home with Love

As I sat down all my muscles were crying out – ‘Enough! Give me a rest.’  We were near the end of moving day and every bone in my body could tell it had been a long day. Someone called out, “where do you want to put this?” I looked up wearily and said, “Wherever you want to.” My brain was mush, and I could no longer think, all I wanted to do was to rest for a while.  Tomorrow was another day; The rest of the boxes could wait.

I told everyone it’s time to stop. Relief splayed across a few faces. As my whole family sat looking at each other, we shared how much we had achieved and how we were looking forward to building many more memories in this house. The children had fun playing out in the mud and the sand while we unpacked. They were playing with my daughter’s dog who loved the attention.

I know the house is not yet decorated but the house becomes a home when memories, love and people interact with each other. The photos which frame the walls are just reminders of what we have done, where we have been, and who we are within our family. Hopefully also how loved we are.

Someone wrote to me and stated how lovely it was that God had blessed us with a house, but more so a heavenly house in heaven with God. This reminder warmed my heart – for God has prepared a home (one with love, created by love) for each of us. The one in heaven. And we did not have to unpack any boxes, God has done it all for us! Oh, I liked this right now, the way I was feeling!

We just need to accept His invitation. Oh, this is the ultimate – to be in an intimate relationship with Him, our Saviour, our best friend.

We also have a ‘house of God’ called our Church. It’s where our Holy God resides and where we, His people, come and pray and worship and give Him the honour He deserves. All are welcome in His house.

This house becomes a home when we recognize our God of love and know that this love of His is extended to all.

How do you make your house a home?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

    Aww Rose,
does anyone call you Rose🌹 instead of Rosemary? Like I’m Sue/Susie instead of Susan.
You’ve just been through what we are doing hopefully in the next 6 months. We’re hoping to down sizing from a Ranch home on 1/2 acre to a condo.

My husband, Ed, is 70 & I’m 2 years away. Our health is on the decline right now. A lot of maintenance is needed. (Our bodies & our home) 🙏🏼If it is God’s will, we will have the privilege of having the surgeries needed to correct our arthritic bodies of their worn out parts, and make some painful situations less miserable.

We believe by the Grace of God, we can make any dwelling a home! As long as His pictures, & cross hang on our walls, and our parish priest blesses our new home! We are of the mind set, that everything that takes place is in God’s timing. We’ve wanted to move since last September. Two places have fallen through, one a health issue arose and we had to forgo the place we had a deposit on. We just keep saying, “No, God doesn’t want us here.” In many cases patience is a virtue, we could use more virtue!!🙃
Blessings to you, Rosemary, and Bruce on your NEW home 🏡 !
    In His Love, ✝️🙏🏼🕊️

Thank you for always bringing to us comments that just fit perfectly with where I am in the moment. You speak of our Heavenly Home and also our Church Home..Just this morning a sweet lady approached me at Mass with an invitation to join a new ministry being formed within the church. She spoke of its mission and the “requirements”. (There are none of course) but I might be to young..Lol well after I picked my “teeth” off the floor I assured her I was probably “just old enough!” Lesson is I had found a home at church after walking thru the door after many years away on the first day of Lent 2023 and I decided I was Home. Thank You Lord and Thank you Rosemary for always saying just the right thing when I need to hear it.

Thank you for thoughts on home. We moved to Cyprus 18 months ago to look for a place to call home. We have lived in Africa most of our lives & the plan to retire there changed when my husband’s health deteriorated. He needed more medical facilities than there are where we had lived for the past 32 years. Big changes, selling up & moving in our 70’s. We’ve found a church in Cyprus & moved our few chosen belongings there. We are at the moment visiting our old home town & friends. It’s good to be able to share some positive points to our move & that has helped us come to terms with why & how we moved. Thank you for reminding me of our spiritual home, our heavenly home & off course our new earthly home. Wishing you & your family many happy years to create more memories in your new home.
