Where Are You Planted?

Bruce and I have been gardening. We have bought some trees to plant in the backyard. We don’t know very much about plants, so we have gone to the experts. The people who work with plants and trees in nurseries. We found out that some people just work there and know no more than us. While others have a plethora of knowledge which we so eagerly delved into. If we were going to get our small trees to grow to their full potential, we needed to know the soil to put them into, how much water and fertilizer they needed and what type of sunlight was best for their growth.

If only it worked the same for people. If only we could put them, plant them in the right environment, feed and water and nourish correctly then allow The SON of God to shine on them so they reach their full potential.

Hang on!… Did not Jesus, the Son of God, state that that was His Mission?

To bring our lives to the Full. To its Full Potential in God.

Looking around the world, many of us are not put/planted in good places. Some of the places are our fault and choice but many are not. Who chose to live in Gaza right now?  In the tiny villages of Ukraine? Who chose to be born into a poor family living on the garbage piles in Chile? Who chose to live in the rat race of New York and homeless on the streets, amongst the lights of technology blaring day and night?

Sometimes our place where we are is not our choice and there seems no way to get out of it.

But choosing to be nourished, fed and watered by The Living God can be a free choice we can make.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Are you the “whoever” who has chosen Him? Believes in Him?

The invitation is to all in this day and age. It has always been this way. Rich or poor, healthy or sick, living in freedom or living with war on our doorstep All are given a choice to accept this FULL LIFE WITH GOD.

If I was the tree that someone bought to be planted and I the tree could have a choice not in the soil I was in but in the amount of perfect SUNLIGHT I needed to get to my FULL Potential, what do you think I would choose?

Many of us, though, do get free choice in the soil we can move to. Are you choosing well? Wisely? So that you and yours get the best fertilizer, water and soil to grow and be nourished.

Be wise like the parable of the bridesmaids waiting for the Bridegroom (Jesus). They did not know when He might return.

‘Then the kingdom of heaven will be like this. Ten bridesmaids took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. When the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.

Matthew 25:1-4

They kept their lamps burning with oil and had spare oil too. – They had the Holy Spirit spiritually giving them hope, comfort, and tools to wait for Jesus’ return.

We each can fill our own lamp with right living and right choices, with the right fuel so that we are ready and in the wait, growing to the best, Full Potential we can.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

In those areas of your life where you have a choice, where are you choosing to be planted?

Are you nourishing your life with the Word of God? If not, what can you do to work on this?

Are you turning to God to live the full life that He promises you? What could you do to step into the full life God has for you?

Hi Rosemary. A friend of mine, a strong Christian who passed away earlier this year, always used to say to me: “Bloom where you are planted”. I came across a framed picture of those very words and have put it in a prominent place.

Very inspiring. Due to a very bad fall 18 months ago where disc’s in NY spine were dislodged, I am unable to stand ir walk. Although I am not a Catholic, I have found the daily messages so uplifting, thought provoking and comforting. Due to the expense of having to employ carers to assist me, I am unable to make a donation.

Yes I did a little session years ago called “Bloom where you’re planted”. It’s a lovely saying. We just have to do it!!!!! Thank you Rosemary. I’ve since moved, so have to start again. 🙏
