Joy and Peace for You!

I’m watching the cricket matches at the moment on tv.

The stats come up for the best batter in the world, the best bowler – how many people they have bowled out. How well the different countries around the world have performed – in the World Cup, in test matches, in the summer BBL series…..

Maybe you don’t follow this sport, or sport at all?

Maybe you follow the cooking shows with the latest foods or dishes that are popular. Not you? Maybe you love fashion. Car-racing. Home renovation shows. The latest movies, series that keep you enthralled.

But really none of those things are really that important.

They are enjoyable to watch but not lifesaving. They don’t alter your life.

This week is where we celebrate THE Life Saving Event of the Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

For us! For all of us!

For a child has been born for us,
    a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
    and he is named
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6 NRSV

No performances from any of us deserve this great gift.

No stats needed. Nothing from us needed except our hands open to receive.

So may the Joy and Peace that comes from this birth of the Saviour, Jesus, fall upon each and every one!

May we celebrate with family and friends the love God has bestowed on us.

May we truly receive from Our God what He has for us.

God Bless,

Love from Rosemary and Emma

Merry Christmas!

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

This week take some time to reflect on the joy and peace that God wants to bless you with. Do you feel this joy and peace?

If not, what can you do to receive it? God wants to grace you with it.

The birth of Jesus is a life altering experience if you allow it to be. What practical things can you put in place to experience it? What things do you need to do in your heart to be open to it at a deeper level this Advent?
