Sitting at His Feet is Enough

It started very suddenly. The first thing that happened was the blurring of my vision and a slight feeling of sickness. I thought I was just tired but then I remembered that you could get headaches after a general anaesthetic. Last week I had dental surgery and now the anaesthetic was wearing off. So possibly it was just a side effect.

Don’t you hate it when you have things to do, and you just can’t do it! And so even putting aside the jobs that I can’t do I feel debilitated to even have a normal prayer time. So, let’s make it not normal! I can go into a dark room, my eyes closed, put on some worship music, and let my spirit talk to God’s spirit.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Romans 8:26-27 NRSV

All of creation groan for this unity of spirit, our spirit to God’s spirit. In the world everyone is searching even if they don’t know it. But when we know it…wow!…the peace, the joy, the fulfilment is so amazing!

Are there times when you’ve felt like you couldn’t pray but your spirit was groaning for that unity? Maybe when you can’t have a normal prayer time you should do it differently?

God knows and totally understands. He knows the inner depths and parts of us. He knows our bodily health. Her knows our mental health. He just knows and He loves! Maybe all we can do is surrender and sit at His feet. That is enough. It’s more than enough!

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Has there been a time in your life where you were unable to pray as you usually would? What did you do about?

If you prayed in a different way, how did you feel about it? What felt different?

Wow! Just what I needed to hear.
I have been sick but also stressed by my daughter’s behavior sometimes. Some nights I crash out on my bed and can barely pray. Many mornings I’m jolted out of sleep and some sort of Good Morning God is all I can handle. Or all I can say is Mother Mary pray for me.
Just this Sunday the priest spoke of making sure we have a daily prayer routine. I try.

Praying for your recovery. Right now, I’m struggling with my prayer life because of my depression/anxiety. I’m on medication, but not getting the results I hoped for. I continue to pray and just ask God for peace in my life. Not formal prayers; just talking to Him. I don’t know what people do that don’t have faith, during difficult times.

Rosemary, you are a very strong person. If I had just gone through the surgery you and Bruce have described, I am sure I would not have the strength to write to my followers. I would just disappear into a very dark and quiet place until I felt better. Thank you so much for reaching out to us, and I am praying you heal quickly and completely. God bless you both! 🙏❤️🙏

Thank you for this message. I pray that you. continue to heal. Dental surgery ouch! When things are such that I haven’t had my time in the morning with God, I use the time that I’m driving to have prayer time with Him. Many conversations have taken place in the privacy and comfort in my car. I know He hears me…
