He Cares About Your Day

The dry sore throat started around the same time as the irritating slow nasal drip. I was coming down with a cold. I moaned internally. This was not a time to get a cold. My calendar was full of appointments, ones where I needed a clear mind and extra strength to grapple with them. I prayed that the cold would not progress any further and that my immune system would win the battle.

Do you ever pray prayers like that? Prayers that ask God into your day, into your situation.

God is so interested in you, in me, in our lives that he loves it when we include Him. He loves it when we talk to Him about simple everyday things.

In the book of 1 Peter, it says:

“Cast all your anxiety on him for he cares for you.”

1 Peter 5:7 NRSV

So, if you are thinking about stuff, share it with him. You may not necessarily be feeling anxious about what you are thinking or how you are feeling (physically, mentally, spiritually) but if it comes up into your life then God is interested.

Jesus shared so often with His disciples that He knows the number of hairs on our head, that we are more important than the sparrows God cares for…..

He did this to show us how we are so loved by Him and cared for by Him that even the ridiculous number of hairs on our head is known by Him.

Surely that puts a little bit of warmth in your heart that God cares about you. Even down to the minute details.

And so, as I prepare my workday I invite Jesus into it, ask Him to give me the extra strength and focus that I need to accomplish my tasks. I ask Him to keep the cold at bay and thank Him for caring about me.

Don’t forget to include God in your life, not just the big things but everything – for He is Lord of all – if you let Him.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Do you tell God about your day? Do you ask Him to be present to you in the what may seem like the mundane of life?

If you do tell God about your day, what do you say? If you don’t, why don’t you? How do you think asking God into your day would change your day?

How could you invite God into a situation in your life right now?

Oh Rosemary, I just had to continue when I read your opening sentence….Truly, I have been experiencing the same thing, a really bad head cold etc which started four weeks ago to this very day! The sinuses are dripping down into my throat, hence a sore throat, and the antibiotics have added a negative side effect, but I am right at the end!!!!

Please don’t think I am complaining, I am not, In fact, I think this is quite amusing, and no, I am not mentally disturbed!! I just believe this journal has come at the right time for me! Mmmmmm, I am pathetic at hearing God’s voice, but just maybe He’s letting me know that He is around, through you!!!

Anyway, with a smile I am writing this because this journal of yours has really struck a chord with me. Thank you and may I say that I wish I had your tremendous, passionate faith, BUT I am working on it!!

    Thank you.

    Iris. xx

I can so relate to this. Over Easter, I came down with a heavy cold and a very congested chesty cough, so all my plans for Easter went out the window. I told the children to stay away and because my husband is away overseas, this meant that I spent Easter on my own. Thank goodness there is Mass on line and it was possible to be able to take part to a certain extent. It certainly was a time of reflection and many conversations with God. I asked him for the strength to deal with everything and get through each day. He truely is my best friend, he is always there, and he never lets go of my hand

I really needed to hear this message today. My day started as planned but suddenly it took a twist and the course of my day changed dramatically. Having Jesus to talk to stopped me from panicking. Blessings to you and your tesm

I thank God for this reassurance that He is interested in everything that is happening in my life. When I get into my car I always ask the Holy Spirit to enable me to drive carefully, safely, and courteously so that I don’t cause anyone any problem or harm. When I attend Aquarobic classes I ask the Holy Spirit to help me to be a gentle, compassionate listener and to keep my opinions to myself unless there is something encouraging He wants me to share with others in the group. When I get up in the morning I listen for the bird song and thank God for the gift of the birds and the gift of hearing, and the gift of His wonderful creation. So you will understand that I sometimes wonder if God gets tired of my ongoing conversation about the little, unimportant things happening in my life. So I thank Him for your sharing of your life with us through your journal messages. God speaks to us in so many amazing ways and isn’t that great! Thanks be to God.

Things have changed quite a bit for me lately , having to adjust to mobility issues, etc….am lying back here trying to nut out the logistics of travel…how to manage luggage and getting to the airport. Then I remembered a priest friend of years ago, who was constantly on the move. He was so badly affected by arthritis. I remember chatting one day about the challenges he must face and asking him does it get lonely being constantly on the move. He said , ” No, I am never lonely. Jesus is my travelling companion”.
