Around the Dining Table

I had four of my grandchildren sitting around the kitchen dining table eating their afternoon tea after school. I had been on “pick up from school duty.” They had previously in the car been singing an alphabet song over and over trying to get the words right. After about the tenth time they were all happy with what they had worked out was the final product.

I interrupted their chatter and singing by asking them could they sing it in an operatic voice, which they very happily did.  At the top of their lungs mind you.

I then asked them to sing it angrily, which they did. Then with emotion and sadness. That was funny. The way each individual child interpreted being sad in voice and facial expressions.

As they were completing these tasks we arrived at our destination, my home.

As I asked them to get their school bags, wash their hands and sit at the table ready for afternoon tea they were still excitedly sharing the fun of the song and how they were singing it.

As the food was being consumed, I sat with them a little longer, asking them about how their football or netball matches had gone last week. Somehow, we got onto reminiscing about when they were a baby.

Freddie, who is the eldest at ten, shared a memory that his Mum had shared with him about when he was first learning to talk. He loved eating watermelon but called it ‘wah wah melon.’

There were a few giggles at some of the stories especially ones I started to share about their dad as a little boy.

When family get it right, sharing, loving, learning, it is such a joy!

When we follow God’s plan for families the Family unit is a place of love and support.

Families come in many forms nowadays in society but the wonderful blessing through Jesus Christ is that God makes a way for all of us to be part of His eternal Family.

Can you imagine all of us around God’s dining table sharing stories, laughing and loving everyone there?

Our God invites all to His Table.

The Eucharistic Table.

The focus is us remembering what Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross did. He made a way for all to enter God’s Family once more.

None of us are worthy but because of Jesus taking upon himself our sins we have all been made a son or daughter of the Living God.

Oh, what joy to be at His Table!

Take some time to reflect upon this – as is stated in the Catholic Mass:

How blessed are we to be invited to the Supper Of The Lamb.

Revelation 19:9

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

On Memorial Day weekend, I had the opportunity to play a board game with 4 of my grandchildren and their parents., 1 college graduate, 2 in college and 10th grader. We were in teams of two and my college grandson chose me as his partner. I felt very special indeed,

I can imagine being around the table with Jesus as that is exactly the vision he is giving me in dreams, daydreams and afternoons spent with you and Bruce in Brisbane and other times recently.
I now need to see where this takes me and who comes around me to share the vision to its fulfillment

    Thanks for your message
