God Will Carry You
In goes first the skim milk, then the berries, protein powder, bananas all in a mixer and that’s my morning milkshake. If I adjust the ingredients and add in flour, an egg and less skim milk I have the mix ready to bake into a healthy loaf.
I have been wanting to eat a bit healthier lately especially because many of my body parts are highly inflamed. I’ve been researching foods that cause more inflammation and those that are anti- inflammatory. The more I can help my body coping with my condition the better I will be.
But it does not stop there. I need to look after my mental and spiritual parts of me.
When I have not prayed, not conversed with my loving God I don’t cope well. That’s because I’m trying to do life more in my own strength and that strength is limited and imperfect.
If God is in my life He helps me with my thoughts, with how I cope with the pain, with the lack of energy, the fatigue.
The doctor looked at me directly into my eyes and asked me, “Are you ok”
I laughed and said “yes”, I was doing well within myself. The lack of sleep or waking up with the pain was the worst.
It was My God who sustained me.
My heart goes out to oh so many that are far worse than I am. I have a greater understanding and empathy of the suffering of mankind. Those that are in the war-torn zones of the world, the places of famines, the places flooded, those that are in the cancer wards, those with MS, Parkinson’s, and the list goes on. I cannot say I am in any way in the same state of pain and suffering as those with those conditions.
But what I do know that if you are not letting the Lord carry you, it must be nearly impossible to cope.
Turn to the Lord.
In Isaiah God tells us as we age don’t forget he still carries us.
even to your old age I am he,
Isaiah 46:4 NRSV
even when you turn grey I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.
Give Him all of your problems.
Cast all your cares on Him.
Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 NRSV
Please don’t forget this when the pain gets too much. When the strife is unbearable, turn to the Lord for comfort, healing and resolutions.
He Will come to your aid!
May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
How do you cope when you are struggling? Do you find you cope better when you turn to God?
How does God sustain you?
Are you casting your cares on the Lord? If not, why aren’t you leaning on Him?

I have pain in my neck from surgery in 2005, the least little thing sets it off , then I am in agony for ages till it settles down. The doctor found a lot of arthritis in that area ,from a scan. I found out recently from another scan, done to explain why one ear had more hearing than the other, that I had had a small stroke. I remembered having a strange event at Christmas time, where I found it hard to articulate. Thankfully it resolved by itself, but it did answer the question of why. We were talking about pain at Bible study recently, my neighbour was saying that she had trouble resolving why we had pain and she went on to say that her condition, which is an auto immune disease, I think she said CIDP, it is a transgenial nerve disease and is progressive brought her closer to God and strengthened her faith. Many saints I have read of really welcomed pain and they it and said it was suffering for Christ. I am not sure that I am of that ilk and she wasn’t sure that she was either. We are both older and we know many younger ones far worse off than we are. God is good and it is said of him that he does not give us more than we can cope with.

Thank you Rosemary. This post has reminded me that I need to pass everything to our Lord God. It’s surprising we forgot so many times and we really do need these reminders. Thank you xx

In response to Valerie,God does give us more than we can handle, just so that we can turn to Him and seek His help. This gives us time with God in prayer.
