God Gives Us Rest

I seem to have fog in my brain lately. It’s as if all my thoughts are clouded, stuffed with a mixture of blah and nothing. I know my body is struggling with energy. Just moving seems to bring exhaustion upon myself. What is going on?

To all appearances I look the same but I’m definitely pushing the boundaries of weariness.

I am generally a very strong person, but through circumstances over the last few years due to my physical ailment I have become tired in body, and it is wonderful that God offers rest and strength to me, actually to anyone who calls upon Him.

He understands how we feel.

He gives power to the faint,
    and strengthens the powerless.
Even youths will faint and be weary,
    and the young will fall exhausted;
but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
    they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:29-31 NRSV

He invites us to come to Him for rest.

‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’

Matthew 11:28-30 NRSV

He is an ever-present help in trouble and we find strength and refuge in God.

God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present help in trouble….

‘Be still, and know that I am God!
    I am exalted among the nations,
    I am exalted in the earth.’

Psalm 46:1, 10 NRSV

But not only help in our physical body but help in our Spiritual weariness, fatigue. To be encouraged to not grow tired of doing good.

Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right.

2 Thessalonians 3:13 NRSV

God understands our limitations, He created us as mere human, frail and faulted but provides for us strength and rest for the day through Faith in Him. One glance, one thought towards Our Lord and He has picked us up on His shoulders and is carrying us.

Are you allowing God to carry you when you need it? Or do you try and do it all in your own strength that is limited and often useless. Turn to Him.

My heart is comforted in knowing how reliable Our God is!

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
