Our God is Good – All the Time!
Today is not a good day for me. My asthma is playing up, and I feel I am coming down with a cold.
Aching in the body, phlegm in the chest, head pounding.
With the way I physically feel, there is no dinner being cooked tonight by me.
I’m having a hot shower, taking some pain relief and crawling into bed.
Oh, how good is our God – all of the time! I was reminded today – that God is good and reliable.
How good is it that our God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8 NRSV
And in Malachi we are reminded:
For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, have not perished.
Malachi 3:6 NRSV
Also, what is described in the book of James emphasises God’s unchanging nature, His faithfulness and how His character, His love and promises are constant. This gives us, who believe, stability and a hope for our futures because of His nature that is consistent and does not change on a whim.
Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
James 1:17 NRSV
He does not have bad, unwell days, where He crawls back into his King Poster Bed.
Oh, again, how good is our God – all of the time!
I hope I’m recovered by next week, Christmas week, so I can do some baking but more so that I can pray and meditate more upon the birth of Our Saviour. I hope that I can enjoy and participate in the Christmas carols and worship of the Son of God, Jesus.
May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’
