• It Takes a Village

I have been watching the Paralympics. So inspiring! The many challenges the athletes face, physically and mentally, that they have overcome to get to where they are is simply amazing and uplifting for all who listen and watch their stories of life so far. All of them, whether they have won a medal or not, did their best and we celebrate their achievement of just competing! Most of them, when interviewed, thanked their families, their coaches and all the supporting people back at home that have gotten them to where they are now. As one commentator stated –  “It takes a village.” This comment is so true. The journey of…

  • God Has Plans For You

My daughter-in-law, Brigette, sent the family a message the other evening. She stated that she had just showed her daughter Mackenzie, who is nearly 8 years of age, how to empty the vacuum cleaner. Mackenzie’s response was, “I can’t do that! I’m allergic to dust.” (She does suffer badly from hay fever and is allergic to dust and pollen.) Brigette replied, “That is a good point, but at least you know now how to clean it, the filters etc.” Mackenzie’s reply was priceless! “I’m never doing that in my life. My husband will have to do it.” Oh, we all smiled at that quick response. I wonder if we will…

  • Strength with Christ

My grandson Frederick, who is 9, was sharing with me that sometimes he feels fearful. He went on to share that his Dad has shared with him how reading scripture, The Word of God, can give you strength and courage. Memorizing scriptures so that you can remind yourself of who God is when the times of fear arise in your life can help you. One of his favourites was Philippians 4:13. “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” I agreed with Freddie that what his Dad was suggesting was a great idea and to continue to find and learn scriptures that will help him in his life.…

  • Thinking of Others Expands Our Hearts

My daughter had recommended a new program to watch that was coming soon on the television. As the day approached, she reminded me what time it started etc. That night, in our private family messages, she expressed her opinion on the program. I was a bit puzzled. The time had not yet occurred for the start of the program. As I messaged her she told me you can watch it on the station half an hour early using the 9now app – such an appropriate name – get it now. I was busy getting dinner so decided to wait until the program came on the normal television at the designated…

  • Christ Will Carry You

I have a friend in Canada, a pen pal, who I have never met but has a kindred spirit to mine. This beautiful lady reached out to me one day and we started conversing online.  Over a period of months, we both felt more and more open to share more vulnerably with each other. We are different but have this God connection that intertwines us together. We are both Sisters in Christ, on the journey of falling in love with the Lord more. The wisdom she has and the relationship she has with Jesus, our Saviour, is inspiring. The more I get to know her, the more I admire her…
