God Has Started a Good Work in You
One of the most unsettling things in your work life is when you get “evaluated.” A time when your boss, manager, supervisor rate your progress from the previous evaluation or from the beginning of the year.
You always hope the feedback is positive but often there is one or more areas where it is pointed out that you could improve upon. This can motivate you to improve but for some it can be quite de-motivating, especially when you have been trying so hard. It can be frustrating when you’ve done your best but still you are lacking. Often the supervisors are comparing you to other co-workers. Some who are more talented in different areas than others.
I learnt long ago as a Manager I needed to not compare one colleague to another because we all have different gifts. One of my staff was simply amazing on the computer. Their skills were superb and efficient in knowing the computer system. On the other hand, an older staff member who had not grown up with computers struggled each and every time she was on it. I realised all staff had to know the basics but there was no way the older staff member was going to have the same ability as the younger staff member on computers. In the area of customer care and knowledge, however, the older member left the younger one still standing at the starting line. And so, I put the older member in charge of Customers and the younger one in charge of computers, but both had to learn the basics in each area.
Upon reflecting in God’s Kingdom, He does not compare. There is freedom knowing that He never gives up on you. He knows you’re not perfect and will make mistakes, but He has a plan for your life. He knows what you are good at and where you lack. He won’t abandon you or the perfect plan for you. He will show up every day being your cheerleader, helping you to accomplish more than you could have ever imagined.
I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:6 NRSV
The NLT translation states it like this…
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
Philippians 1:6 NLT
Oh, if only all Managers and supervisors were like Christ and helped us to complete the good work that is within each of us. Praise be to God that He is championing me always!
May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
How did you feel the last time your work was evaluated? Or maybe you were the one who had to do the evaluation?
What did the evaluation teach you about yourself? Did you agree or disagree with what was said?
If you were sitting down with God what do you think He would say about you? Do you think He would ask you to improve some things?
What good works do you believe God has started in you?

Errrrr
so you get your two buddies to leave little sisterhood messages of support – Within 10 minutes of each other
after I’ve pointed out that this post is the biggest load of garbage I’ve ever read and it’s f&cking cr@p but you don’t leave that feedback published?
Still surviving on nepotism I see Rosemary
That should tell you something in itself about your own “work performance”

Sometimes, I got evaluating others correctly and gently, other times not so much.
When I was evaluated, it was intimidating, the gentleness of others was appreciated.
I learned where my weaknesses lay.
God is busy evaluating me at present, not sure that I am doing very well.
God is making me look at myself deeply. I don’t like what I am seeing
