Leaning on God

A cool breeze on a hot day is balm to the senses. Especially when it has been 42 degrees Celsius or 107.6 Fahrenheit. But if there is a fire and a breeze comes up, this is not always good as seen in L.A. recently and happening now in Victoria, Australia.

In other parts of the world right now there is heavy snow falls and ice on the roads. Climate can change in an instant; a tornado is predicted and is more devastating than thought or can be a mere “Willy Willy” where the dust flies around.

Does it appear to be getting worse or has our technology advanced so much we know about every wind change, every drop in temperature, every tremor?

When I get anxious just listening to the weather of the day and what is predicted into the future, I remind myself to look to Jesus for my stability.

There truly is enough worry each day, as the scripture states, “each day has enough worry of its own”, to worry about what tomorrow may bring.

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Matthew 6:34 NRSV

Our God is in control. He is creator of the Heavens and the Earth. He is master of everything!

He asks us to be fruitful, produce and care for the earth. Look after all that has been given to us.

Some things, though, are out of our control. Then we lean into God and trust in His guidance.

Learn from others who have gone before and have learnt how to care for our planet, even if it has been from mistakes.

So, as you sit and contemplate at the end of the day, like I am – what can you do to care for our planet and not to worry about what may or may not come our way?

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Sometimes I wake in the early hours, start thinking about my failures anxiously tossing and turning asking God’s forgiveness. Then when I get up to start the day and I read my daily prayer books I find God’s reassurance of his faithfulness. I get the message that even if I fail God, he will never fail me. (Jeremiah 31:3 “I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.”) “Faith in God’s love frees me, for I remember God sees me as I am and loves me with all his heart.” I believe God put those messages in those books for me to find exactly when I most need to receive them – all praise and thanks to God.

Oh thank you for your messages. This is exactly what I needed to hear today. Sometimes all we can do is lean into God and know he has us through all times good and hard. Thank you again. I always look forward to yours and Emma’s messages.
